Very similar to the ****e that was spouted at Malcolm Lord in the 60s & 70s, I like Longman, I think he will become a good player but our team is so unbalanced at the moment all wide players struggle.
No not the free tickets / cheap travel - just away support generally. Though the free travel does allow the club to build on the positive away support and encouragement for those who might not go / money is tight (e.g junior and his mates) - possibly with the hope this feeds back into home support, particularly if more get to experience this And the Manchester/s home support maybe experiencing the same issue generally - I remember the Man U away fans always being very lively and vocal, though winning tends to help..
That's not my experience, the ones who moan around us are the old ones. Really old. Even older than me. They've got so bad, junior wants us to move seats for next season.
Very much my experience. The older generation surrounding me are constantly badgering them to hoof it up and even started to turn on Seri the last couple of home games That isn't to say young people dont complain though
Starting the game with our strongest team would help instead of conceding and chasing an equaliser like we currently do. Play like we want to win like we do for the last 20 minutes at the moment. Going a goal up early on lifts the crowd and gets the stadium buzzing.
The problem with free tickets, cheap tickets or free travel is that some of the people attending have not attended much before, potentially some are only there because its free, and therefore the chances of them knowing songs, being able to generate an atmosphere etc is unlikely. You must have heard games on TV such as the non important England games when all you can here is kids. They dilute the crowd. Their importance is critical on one hand for the future of the club but on the other they break up atmosphere. I went to Man City last night, I was behind the goal at the opposite end to the arsenal fans. All you could hear was arsenal all the way through and to be honest they were nothing like other away followings I've seen there for noise. As I drove home talksport was full of arsenal fans slating the poor atmosphere yet City fans were ringing in saying 'it was noisy where I was sat'. That might be the case but in a stadium of that size you will never hear 100 people in a small corner. Personally I think we missed a trick when they moved people to the North. It should have been selective of who got in there. Should have been safe standing, a singing section and no kids. It was rushed. The no kids area at man utd is fantastic, safe standing in the one next to the away fans (my 7 year old just stands on his seat) or the Stretford end (same thing but no safe standing there). I take him in there when possible as its safe and the atmosphere is great and non stop singing. That has to be down to people being on their feet and feeling more 'up for it'. In E10 there are two blokes behind me, join in with every song, swore a bit too much in the early days but they're OK now they've been told, but surely they need to be in the North or other end of the east stand? I appreciate its difficult but if we want an atmosphere there has to be a better fan consultation process in place and ensure the right people are in the right sections.
Good grief, people being bollocked for swearing at a football shows everything that is wrong, no wonder theres barely any atmosphere ! Some of the best chants always used to use "bad language ". The big thing that doesn't help is modern staduims ( the design, general lack of low roofing ) and being all seating, in days of yore like minded people could easily stand together, now theres no chance of that with ticketed seating, the only way forward i can see is large safe standing areas where theres a element of being freely able to move around and stand next to your mates.
I can think of people who stuck with City through their relegations to the 4th division for the first time, stuck with them through the grim years there whilst the eggchasers were attracting the glory hunters who enjoyed being big fish in a puddle, endured the dire years under Dolan, crowds of 4,000, lockouts, owners like the Sheffield Stealers who would find goal music too much to bear and finally call it a day.
If you think it's accepted to be screaming the C word in the ears of little kids then that's fine but it won't happen near me. I wasn't the only one who told him to shut up either. Of course they're going to hear language, I've no issues with it, what I won't have is someone screaming a word like that every 20 seconds. It's not on in any setting.
Some places have all seating and no roof at all never mind low ones and create a pretty decent atmosphere. Maybe a lot of people joining in instead of sat like at a theatre and demanding the are entertained before they get behind them is the reason? Some like Boca and San Lorenzo create an atmosphere fore the game has started.
Maybe Seri’s comments were taken on board, there was a better atmosphere today and it was from the start, not just because we scored and won.
I hate that word of all swear words it’s orrible I don’t blame you. I’m no saint but can’t bring myself to use it . Mind f*** off with a Hull accent sounds as if we mean it!!LOL
