Yeah he’s been linked a few times this window, has a prolific record in Belgium I just don’t like hugely tall strikers personally
I once heard a discussion about how tall powerful strikers do disproportionately well in the Dutch league and then get found out when moving. The reasoning is Dutch sides play a lot of young players including very young central defenders and they get bullied. I wonder whether it is similar in Belgium? It wouldn’t be outlandish There could well be a concern that he is an immobile lump who when matched against premier league defenders doesn’t offer much? Especially not for what would be quite a large fee for a 28 year old who I don’t think has ever played in a major league. If he was 20 or 21 it might be different (and I am not just saying that due it also aligning with the SR strategy)
In fairness, if we're larruping the ball up in the air from back to front, I'd rather we had Nigerian Crouchy than Che.
Someone on Twitter getting their hopes up, maybe 2+2=5? But this flight landed at Southampton airport today.
Haha, feels like a long shot, but who knows. Thought he was coming in on a Spitfire for a moment there - that would be one way to make an entrance...
My eye was drawn to the ad first, and thought it was pretty neat that we were bringing someone in via Spitfire. Edit: didn't see that I wasn't the only one who fixated on the Spitfire!
If Tete is moving to Leicester, that would seem to again reduce Iheanacho's potential minutes...he's a winger, but with Leicester varying between a 4-3-3 and 4-4-2, what little time he gets is likely to be a casualty. He remains, for me, the most realistic striker target that has actually done something at this level.
Surprised by this. He’s basically Edozie #2. Seems a class prospect but I wouldn’t say he fixes our goal scoring issue. Maybe the plan is to get quick runners either side of Adams and get him playing balls into them.
Gordon to Newcastle for 40mil plus add ons. What are people seeing in this kid that I’m missing!? That fee is crazy.
Thing is, creating chances isn't our main issue (though of course we could do with more), it's finishing the buggers.
If Leicester had, say, another seven or eight points on the board, then I suspect the chances of someone like us signing him this month would be much greater. But right now, Leicester are in the relegation battle - and not for one moment do I see them wanting to risk him improving a direct rival.
