You've already turned it into a slanging match by your use of the derogatory insult 'spuds', the thread is now tainted with ill-will by you, and as a mod you should know better.

I'm glad that some of us can see that the terms are only pejorative when met with an oversensitive recipient.

 

You call yourselves 'gooners' do you not? I think that's a ridiculously stupid nickname to give yourselves, but that's your choice.

We don't call ourselves 'spuds' we call ourselves 'spurs', 'spud' is a well known Wum nickname used to irritate spurs fans, it's childish and derogatory to our great name.

 

I was going to say something about our goal-stopping, 3rd-goal-post, legend of a player, Luka "I laughed at my own error to show I'm relaxed at Spurs" Modric, but I wont bother now.

 

the term is pejorative, you know full well it is, and you should be ashamed of using it as a moderator, on our board.

'goons' and 'gooners' both have completely different meanings, you have to be a complete numpty if you don't know that. But we don't get all upset when we are called goons, mention that word that is also used to describe potatoes and all hell breaks loose.

I act differently on different boards.
Posting an article about how great it is that we stuffed Liverpool 4-0 on the Spurs board would be fine.
Doing it on the Liverpool board would be WUMing.

The only instance in which the term 'Spud' becomes belittling, is when Spurs fans belittle themselves by getting offended by it's use.

It's a nickname for god's sake, we've all had nicknames which we aren't that fond of, the trick is to ignore it.

It's also interesting to note how some people throw around accusations and in the process, become guilty of doing it themselves.

I'd actually hoped, that despite the OP's thinly veiled wum attempt, that some decent Arsenal and Spurs fans could conduct themselves in a reasonable manner
and keep this thread from descending into a slanging match.

I guess some people just can't help themselves though, even when they claim that's what they don't want.
