Sunderland look set to sign Joe Gelhardt on loan from Leeds until the end of the season. If a player like this is actually available how come we are not in for him?
Think he is the sort of player we have in abundance...young second striker. What we need is a strong bully boy "fo" centre forward. Everything Lyndon Dykes actually is ...but plus goals. And as we talk endlessly...is it Lyndons fault or is it our teams ethos that is at fault... Anyway...whatever we do need a back up no 9, Dykes is the only one we have. Armstrong is not that yet. Holding the ball up and playing it off isn't his forte...running like a mad bull at the opposition is more his style.
We have 5 ( laird, Richards, Roberts, Lowe, Tim 5 vowels) ,....and 5 are allowed in match day squad. So get another one...he could still be used...but one of the others would have to stay at home
With Masterson gone on loan again, Balogun still weeks away from a return, Kakay looking like he'll be playing a game or 3 at RB with Laird's injury not serious but not likely to playing tomorrow at least, leaves us with 3 Center Backs only - Dunne Dickie and JCS. The latter seems to go injured regularly. I think Gubbins is a CB, but not sure if he's ready for the 1st team. This all leads me to think bearing injuries and suspensions in mind, that we need another decent Championship CB as a priority in this window, preferably one who can distribute the ball well out of defence as JCS is our current best at that, but most likely statistically to get injured again.
Can't see anybody significant leaving this window. I have a feeling we are consolidating down ...and saving our pennies for the summer...anyone else think that
I think you’re right Beth. With NC also saying it’s unlikely that anyone is coming in unless theirs a surprise exit. He is also saying he’s not looking for squad players in, only a player who would improve on the first eleven we have now. Seems sensible. We need to develop youngsters for sure but we also need to look at a player who would be coming in who can improve our matchday eleven. That will cost money - and I’m not too sure how that balances with our financial situation?
Can't see anyone significant leaving either, mainly because nobody has been playing well enough to attract any attention. Same old season after season
So what happened to the million we got for the Weasel leaving? What are our brilliant scouts up to? Where’s the ambition of our club?
That was after a handful of games. We have been found to be seriously lacking in many departments since then. This team is a long way off even play off material as the depth just isn't strong enough.
My point is that the players we have are not playing at their optimum level, which is down to poor management and coaching. We can't afford big signings, but we should be getting more out of what we have.
How many players and staff are happy to sit back, take a salary and think - could be better, could be worse. We seem to be cruising season after season. It’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day.
