I've had a terrible nights sleep due mainly to negotiations with Skriniar , I got his signature in the end when I allowed him to open a Slovakian dumpling outlet in the stadium , thank me later :emoticon-0103-cool:

    Porro Watch
Bruno Andrade claims that one of Sporting's conditions for sale was that he is allowed to play in the Taca da Liga final against Porto this coming Saturday

Hope we negotiated a discount for the inevitable injury he picks up in that match...

On a similar note, RTP report that Sporting agreed to payment in installments in exchange for a percentage of Marcus Edwards' sell-on fee

On another similar note, David Ornstein claims that Sporting are looking to loan in Tariq Lamptey as Porro's replacement

Brentford made a loan offer for Spence but we rejected it as it had a buy obligation.

Apparently we don’t wanna include an obligation or option…

Like one of those toxic relationships “if I can’t have you no one else can” except it’s “we’re not gonna play you here but you can’t leave (permanently) either”.

An option to buy with a buy-back clause inserted as a backstop isn't the worst idea in the world, especially as it could give us leverage with Raya.

If we could insert a buy option at let's say £20m and a buy-back at £25-30m, to have a young player develop at a good, local club under a progressive manager is well worth it imo.

Unless of course Conte is off in the summer in which case his chances of playing next season increase exponentially.

Buying a player only to loan them out with a buy option to then eventually buy back just sounds pretty long winded and silly to be honest. More so when we’re signing another player in his position who’s only a year older.

Spence probably wouldn’t even agree to a deal where there’s a buy back clause and who could blame him. I definitely wouldn’t wanna come back after the way I’d been treated.

It is long winded but it covers our backs from almost every eventuality in the summer, top of that list being who is sitting in the dugout, second being how well Porro adapts to the PL.

By the same token as you've argued, why would Spence agree to a simple loan at this stage? If he's been treated that badly, he'd probably want a permanent move - which sounds like exactly what Brentford are fishing for albeit with a delayed payment.

What am I missing here? A loan is a perfectly normal way of handling a player who is not considered the finished article but is expected to be after more experience. Why would Spence not want to play on a regular basis to prove his value and then return in a stronger position to his chosen club?

A simple loan gets him out temporarily at the least and for short term happiness it works for him, with possibly the hope of forcing a permanent move in the summer.

A loan that can result in a permanent deal would probably appeal to him the most because if he enjoys his stint and then joins permanently he’s out of the hell hole that’s been the last 6 months for him and doesn’t have to return.

A loan where he could join permanently only to be brought back to said hell hole probably wouldn’t be something that’d appeal, especially knowing there’s a chance he’d be coming back without the guarantee of being first choice.

Danjuma’s taking the number 16 shirt. A number usually represented by our RBs over recent years with Tripps, Walker-Peters and Naughton all donning it at some point in their Spurs career.

Where's the criticism of trying to pay 7m less?

Interesting that McKennie's been linked to us consistently since Conte's arrival, yet we're now suddenly not interested in Juventus players

    I wonder what happened...?
