The reason my figures don't matter, is that whatever we're paying him is so much, that anything more than that is immaterial. It's just money for the sake of having money. What can he possibly want to buy that he can't afford now? OLM estimated he was on about £10,000/week the other day I think, that makes £520,000 every year. If an office junior was offered a couple of million then regardless of how loyal their employer had been he should take it because it really will chan ge him and his familiy's life, you couldn't complain about that. But when the guy is already on an absolutely unreal sum of money the extra cash is just lining his pocket. This is when it just becomes greed.

We gave him the break that has allowed him to attract that kind of money.

To someone on £20k a year, then £300k year sounds like a fortune, but when you're actually on a six figure income(of which the government takes half) and you've got a couple of kids at private school, a couple a flash cars, an expensive house, expensive holidays etc etc, it's surprising how fast you get through it. The reality is, that doubling your salary is a big deal regardless of what money you're on, unless of course you're Richard Branson or Bill Gates, then your point would apply.

I'm a solicitor. I earn a salary above the national average but not an extortionate amount. I love my current job, and I'm based near my nearest family (e.g. parents etc.). If I fell out with my superior tomorrow and they said I'd been headhunted by another large firm and I'm free to leave, I'd probably go. If this was in London, I'd take my fiancee and baby son with me but I'd miss my family, who would miss my son (and hopefully me). I'd do a good job there, not much different to how I was doing before, and I'd probably get paid the same wage, but I wouldn't be living where I really want to and I wouldn't be working with the friends I currently have.

Two years passes, and the phone rings. It's a new bloke in the position of my old boss who I now hate. He says that the old boss and his associates have gone, but most other people remain. He wants me to come back, and he's willing to pay me three times what I was earning before, with a substantial golden hello to boot. It gives me the opportunity to move back to my home, and back to my family. Both firms are similar in stature, but my old one has a lot of new contacts and huge sums to spend on marketing, meaning the clients I can potentially access far outweigh those I currently work with.

What am I going to do?

If he goes, I'll be sad. He was the best manager, at the right time for us, and him and the Allams have turned our club around in a way I could never even dream about. I will always be grateful for what he's done and will salute him for what he's done for us. He'd be brave going back to Leicester too, because I think he'll never get on with their new bunch of prima donnas, and anyone he wanted back from us would make us a fine sum of cash to spend wisely I hope.

Personally I would love to see Mclaren replace him, with Barmby in a junior role, learning the ropes.

Regarding wages, one single truth is, it doesn't matter how much you earn, your missus will always spend it. All of it. And still moan at you when nip out for a beer. Fact that.

Nice story, but he lives in Sheffield, he didn't move to Leicester and he didn't move to Hull, assuming he's gone, he's gone for the money(and possibly because he thinks he's a better chance of reaching the Premier League with Leicester).

The difference is, Nige lives and always has lived in Sheffield (since taking over Leicester and then us anyway), he's going no closer to home whatsoever. The only motivation with this move is money. Greed for himself and extra playing budget.

I think he's left us in a superb state. Imagine where we'd be but for his intervention, for example if he never left Leicester. We're reasonably financially stable (so much better than we were), we've got rid of the leeches and half of the Premiership plastics to boot. We've got some of the most talented youngsters in the division on our books and we're a reasonably attractive proposition to a new decent manager.

Money talks, we all know that. To be honest, Pearson was bloody superb for us on a shoestring budget. But some managers are designed for that, they're crap when they've got money. Mark Hughes, Allardyce, Moyes. If I was a Leicester fan and we had an endless budget, a massive pot of gold, I'd probably be a bit underwhelmed by appointing Pearson.

First part is right. Shoestring isn't right. We've spent £5m in transfer fees this year and the wage bill is nearly £15m a year with marquee players being paid on top.

It was about £40m when he came in though to be fair. Money spent sure but bargains. Cameron Stewart for £300k, Chester for £500k, Hobbs £800k, Dudgeon £300k. Hardly Leicester sort of budget is the point I was trying to make, the spent his grand total on Matt Mills.

True but the wage budget is massive compared to someone like Blackpool and the transfer fees this year are larger than just about everyone in the league bar Saints, West Ham and Leicester. Then take into account that Saints and West ham received in far more than they spent.

Do you really think Saints have a better squad than ours though? I know where they are in the league etc and I don't wanna sound like these idiot Leicester fans but I wouldn't be desperate for many of their players. Maybe Do Prado, Lambert and Cork. West Ham look to me to be by fair the best team in the division, on Saturday they were missing Matty Taylor and David Bentley as well. I wouldn't be desperate for many of Blackpool's players either.

Maybe it's the amber tinted glasses but I think we're in a good position providing we appoint the right man. We've got Stewart coming back in, maybe even Oli if the new gaffer fancies him.

Football management is a fickle business, you can be in vogue one minute and on the scrap heap the next. I think most football managers want to take as much as they can, when they can, because they could have long periods without a job.

I think there's too much unquashed speculation to suggest that he'll stay. I reckon he's gone which is a pity as I think that's season over for us. Shame but what are you going to do? If he does go I hope we do to him what Pompey did to Cotterill last weekend. I don't want to speculate on replacements but I hope it's someone with an eye for talent rather than someone who hires mercenaries.

Speaking of which, did Brownie do his team-talk on the pitch on Saturday? This time his team won the second half after a 4-0 deficit, although I reckon half the Charlton players were in Chinawhite by then.

By the way, everyone campaigning for Joycey to come back. Remember in the summer, he turned us down before he was even offered the job. Came out into the press and stated he's not interested in leaving Old Trafford at all.

One thing I'll always be grateful to him for, is he got rid of Bullard, at no cost to us either. For that we should put a statue up of him.
