Even if we aren’t really in for him all the Bournemouth fans who have been giving it large online will need to say so Wasn’t Jackson known to be injured? But medicals are about more underlying issues than current surface level injuries ?
The alarming part is that they have 30m to bid when we are seemingly uninterested in going that high apart from in rare cases. Without wishing to speak too soon - AC Milan vs Bournemouth. For an Italian player….
Medicals aren't for current injuries unless there's real long term concerns. They are more for stuff like possible heart issues or previous injuries which could have long term repercussions.
Zaniolo could be an absolute star one day, crazy Bournemouth are linked with him. If it wasn't for some crazy unfortunate injury issues in the last few years he would no doubt already be at an elite level. But always doubts about someone who ruptured both ACLs in a year.
Can’t compete with Bournemouth, quite alarming really. Might not be a player we may or may not have been interested in but they are certainly prepared to throw everything at it to stay in the div. Saints seem to be stalling on trying to buy their way out of it,considering Everton aren’t doing much yet. Hopefully this won’t be another window where we fail to sign a number 9. Our transfer policy to me is a tad strange
See Antonio is available. Strong, tall player who can run at teams on the counter and hold the ball up for others. Perfect for the sort of style Jones wants us playing. Age and wages might be the only stumbling block.
All this is showing me, is that it is, indeed, very hard to get a half decent striker at a sensible price in January. None of these people being spoken about makes me think "clear solution".
I'm sure efforts were made, we know Gakpo and others didn't happen. Proven strikers are a rare and expensive breed in any window, heaven forbid a knee jerk signing that doesn't come off.
I’m tempted to have a browse of transfermarkt when I get some time for all strikers who have moved for £15-35m in the last few windows and check their records and who they have gone to etc I have a hunch it might well shed some light on the current difficulty Right now I will just go back to my usual well of the most recent Leeds signing. He might well be amazing but if we spent €40m on a striker with his goal record (and no excuse of being often used as a winger as far as I can tell) then our fans would be far more likely to be going mental than celebrating us spending that kind of fee on a player
I'm at the point now where I'll be surprised if we sign a striker. I've moved beyond the desperate stage. Moved onto the "accepting it's not going to happen and we're getting relegated" stage. But lets see.
