Sensible signing. Can send him back if it doesn’t work out. Will be good having more attacking subs on the bench rather than the 1 out of 9 we usually have!

Don’t think we’ll ever see Lucas again although hope he gets some kind of send off at the end of the season. If he does well then it’s a ready made replacement.

obviously more pressing positions to fill but I assume it’s easier to find a squad player than anyone who walks straight into the team in the January transfer window.

I found out only recently that when l went to my first Spurs game in 1961 age 4 it was because my old man wanted me to be a Spurs fan , no , it was because my mum was in hospital because of pregnancy complications and the baby sitter had let him down so he took me rather than miss the game <laugh>

We bemoan the lack of loyalty by players then call them stupid or accuse them of lacking ambition when they stay at a club where they've won nothing.

IF kane were to stay he be one of the clubs greatest ever legends.

Maybe seeing how Newcastle fans view shearer for staying with them for years when they were winning nothing is what he wants.

PSV reportedly looking to loan in Gil

Surely a backward step compared to last season's loan to Valencia?

I take your points but Kane has without question shown more than enough loyalty already. He dealt with the whole City thing really badly, not helped by that "fireside chat" with Neville, but he put it behind him and rallied to produce his very best for us once again.

He is also already a club legend, that will be cemented when he breaks Greaves' record.

Shearer had a PL winners medal when he moved to Newcastle, so while the comparison is often made, it isn't close to being identical.

    But points still taken <ok>

My post wasn't meant as a dig at your view tbh...fair point re Shearer but would have won 4 or 5 more titles, a CL plus various cups had he gone to united is 1998 ... or 1999 or 2000 !
maybe think Le Tissier ... could have gone to most top teams in his career but chose to stay at Southampton

Yeah agree, one more goal too between now and the end of the season and he's the club's highest ever goal scorer. That'd take him beyond legendary status in my opinion, he then becomes a club icon and a "Super Legend" so to speak that probably only four or five can claim to be a part of.

The only way he could ever sour his status would be if he done a Judas, which I'd like to think won't happen.I would raise an eyebrow if he joined any English side other than City though (albeit that ain't happening due to Haaland) as they're the only club right now who can more or less offer a guarantee of trophies, just Bayern or Madrid can.

Levy better offer him the earth to stay though, blank cheque, two of them if he likes, if he leaves and there's the feeling the club didn't do enough to keep him then I'll join any Levy Out protest going, **** I'd even start them.

Foyth and Vinicius weren't failures per se. Both were underutilised and when they were used were often played out of position.

The benefit of signing youngsters is that it is *usually* relatively low risk as the fees and wages are often manageable and they aren't in theory that difficult to shift if it goes pear shaped (although the likes of Nkoudou, Janssen and Gedson really carpet bomb that theory).

I think if one grievance is justified, it is our tendency to go for the cheaper, younger option when the team is crying out for proper experience. Maureen getting Rodon when he asked for Skriniar is the perfect example of this, and Conte is also somewhat flummoxed by this tendency at the moment.

Meanwhile, our list of "senior" flops...

Aurier, Lucas, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Richarlison, Doherty, Sissoko, Soldado, Paulinho, Cheery Cheese. Not bad for circa £290m not including wages.

I just hope Danjuma is a player Conte wants and not just an opportunistic cheap Levy signing, we all know how Levy loves value for money and slobbers over the opportunity to save a few quid like a drunk slobbers over a kebab, but it is pointless if Conte does not want him and does not use him.

I doubt it matters, Conte wanted us to splash £60m on Richarlison and hardly trusts him either, albeit unsurprising seeing as he probably quickly found out he was nowhere near what he hoped he'd be.

Gerard Deulofeu of Udinese was apparently his top pick, but Udinese weren't willing to let him go for anything other than a full transfer considering they're in a similar position to Brighton, Brentford or Fulham this season (i.e. within a sniff of qualifying for European football next season due to punching above their expected weight class)

That being said, Danjuma has been linked since last month at the very least, which has the hallmarks of being a player Paratici had lined up incase the first choice didn't pan out

I think he's started one match in position for us (LW or S), which was the 6-2 v Leicester.
We do have a bizarrely high win percentage when he does start matches, though.
    67% from his 9 starts (W:6, D:1, L2).

    Intriguing development.

I was a huge fan of Lamptey's but he suffered that double hamstring injury in 20/21 and hasn't quite kicked on as expected since.

"Payment terms are the final point of discussion."

Call me cynical, but hasn't that been the final point of discussion for the past 3 weeks?
