There is a story that Bielsa will agree to Everton if he has full control of all football matters and has cash for the summer. He also wants to take them on a winter training camp for a few days to start getting them fit and building some pace. No idea if this is a goer, but seemingly project includes possibility of relegation. I heard he had knocked it all back but now not sure…..
Same source just said the Everton board are long term planning and identified Bielsa’s successor who will join him in the summer and take over at the end of next season? I don’t know it sounds plausible and even Sky are saying the new guy will be announced by Friday?
Thanks Aski So allowing Cooper, Forshaw and Ayling to leave or selling James and Harrison would be a no unless replaced with home grown (thinking ahead to the summer)
Strictly no, those three could leave and be replaced by 3 none home grown players, given that at present we only have 14 none home grown players registered in the first team squad, the number of home grown players is irrelevant, up to a maximum squad size of 25. However given that next season Rutter will also need to be registered as a none home grown player, then that only allows an additional 2 spots available for new signings who don't qualify as home grown and will be aged 21 or over, so it would probably be prudent to to replace like with like, in respect of home grown status. We also need to consider that as well as Rutter if the club decide to keep them, Dramah, Gephardt, Greenwood and Summerville, will also need to be registered as first team players, although these 4 will also be classed as homegrown. With Roberts, James, Poveda. Shackleton, Bogusz, McAlmont and Jenkins all in theory returning to the club once their loan spells end, (not counting that some of their contracts expire at the end of the season) then that leaves us with 32 players to register into next season's 25 man squad before any new signings (except for u21s)
Thanks Aski. Don't think there's any matchday squad requirements in the PL whereas last time I checked in the EFL it's 7 homegrown players in every squad and also one club developed player as well. Just something worth considering were we to go down.
Probably not something that we would need to consider too much, as I'd expect most of our none home grown players to have left
