this is so depressing.. I think he's been fantastic.. but at the end of the day if the offer is that good then who is going to turn it down.. only those who are very rich already.. McLaren was always going to be linked to us.. he's an ex-Tiger.. Keane wouldn't work out here. **** it
the real kick in the teeth would be to sell any players to leicester... if we keep our squad then maybe it can still work out. Although if they bought a couple for £5million each then who knows.
McLaren is being considered for the job at Brugge apparently so there would be Europa Cup action until they get knocked out. Could we afford Him anyway?
I can see him nicking Chester and Rosenior for around £3m in total. If I was in charge I wouldn't accept £3m each Of course every player has their price but the problem is, who the hell is going to replace them?
If Pearson doesn't want to be here, then he can go, no Player, Manager, Coach is bigger than the club, if they think they can get a better payday elsewhere then go, because I wouldn't want you around
Half an hour before this post it was just paper talk with you OLM. 30 minutes later, he's finished with us. What a coup !
As soon as he asked for permission to talk to them, that was the point of no return. Strange thing is, there's a meeting scheduled at the KC for tomorrow night, involving AP, NP, Walsh, Shakespeare and Maguire and it hasn't been cancelled yet. In addition, none of the players have been told anything yet(though there was no training today, so that's maybe not a complete surprise), you'd think the club would make some sort of statement though.
Maybe and call me nuts maybe Pearson has asked for permission to go tell Leicester you had your chance a year ago, take your offer and kindly shove it where the sun don't shine. Of course thats probably unlikely
If he went and spoke to them, decided it wasn't for him and came back, I'd happily accept him. I think I'd be in the minority though.
We're a fickle bunch, if he turned down the Leicester job, we'll all have forgotten about this in a couple of weeks.
Been following this all day and the increasing likelihood of NP leaving. Disappointed but if the guy doesn`t want to be here, and has been swayed by large wage packets, what can we do. I enjoy his no nonsense approach, but cringe at some of his antics in interviews. His style is a bit like marmite, but none of us would have complained if he had taken us back to the promised land. If NP does go, then for gods sake let us not go along the Shhhteve Mclaren route, tactically niaive in this league. For me Dave JONES, Roberto Di MATTEO, Stevie COPPELL, or even Alan CURBISHLEY (if we can persuade him to come north of Watford). as for PB... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I afraid I would have to disagree OLM, as I am sure others would, including the players. What a kick in the teeth for them.
Why is there no training? Random day off? And he wouldn't ask for permission to tell them to **** off, he'd use the press for that. Asking for permission means he wants to hear whats on the table for him. Very disappointed in him, but for all we know, it could just be a massive **** up like Burnsy and the Allams. Although if that was the case I'd imagine the club would have said something. We'll see what happens anyway, if he goes I think we should look at someone like Carlo Ancelotti.
No game at the weekend and plenty of players heading off for internationals so I'd imagine it'll be a scaled back week of training anyway.
NP said on Saturday that they'd review the Hammers game once they were back at training on Tuesday, so today was obviously a scheduled day off.
Well do us all a favour and go and support someone else then. The wave of negativity from fans surrounding NP has to be one of the reasons why he is considering leaving and I dread to hear what the numpties start to say about SM. His record with Englands prima donnas who didnt play for Capello in the last world cup yet he never got the same stick has nothing to do with management of a championship side. His record at Man utd as a coach was first class. He did good things at Middlesboro and then won the Dutch title under the noses of Ajax which was a fantastic achievement. Wolfsberg was a mistake as i doubt he spoke German. A massive barrier as they like their own language. Try watching an English film over there. No subtitles. They dub it. And Forest he was given no money. He would be my FIRST choice.
I'd fancy giving Mark Robbins a go, Barnsley were playing attacking flowing football under Robins, young bright talent with connections! SAF owes his 25 year career to a 0-1 win Robbins scored and saved him his job. MON, Curbishley and Jones are past it, we need a bright upcoming manager.
