Lets just forget the poor clearance he tried to make that should have been dealt with by your defender, and the backpass that almost became a corner then.

In fairness that's been quite a long time.

But I also raise you David Harvey, John Lukic, Nigel Martyn and Paul Robinson.

not bad keepers, but they still havent helped you win a great deal though. still cant see it, even with this money you've got to throw around at the moment.

Nidge Martyn was an outstanding keeper, and he also proved that at Everton!

Well, by your own admittion, your defence isn't the best (although that said, you defended very well yesterday), so maybe that caused a lack of confidence in a young keeper??

I'm not sure because the Kasper you described to us is a different Kasper that we've seen here. The shot-stopping ability is obviously the standout but he does look assured when claiming crosses and he dominates his area well. Our problem recently has been that our keepers haven't really been commanding enough (Weale, Ricardo etc.) and you can't level that at Kasper. I think that last season, looking from the outisde, it seemed inconsistency was his problem but now he seems to have matured and developed that consistency in his game and looks a whole lot better for it. Also, we have a good goalkeeping coach in Mike Stowell here as well which will help him.

But we could also bring up the fact that Lonergan has been outstanding in all areas, especially commanding his box, and seems to instil far more confidence in a young defence (usually) than Kasper ever did.

I can't see any of that as being true. From what I saw yesterday he's the exact same keeper that was forced out the door of Leeds United a few months ago.

Well, maybe it's just one of those strange things in football where the same player can disappoint at one club and excel at the next <confused>.

It's all relative, we now have a better keeper, you had a worse one before him. I stand by what I said about how he looked to be the same player he was at Leeds yesterday.

Any goal we concede is embarrassing because our standards are so high, just like our league position.

I notice your droll little 'L£IC£$T£R CITY' thingy. So here's another league table that we're quiet high in. Think you need to change your 'thingy' don't you?

    English football's richest club owners:-
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nayan (Manchester City) £20bn
    Lakshmi Mittal (QPR) £17bn
    Alisher Usmanov (Arsenal) £8bn
    Roman Abramovich (Chelsea) £7.4bn
    Liebherr Family (Southampton) £3bn
    Joe Lewis (Tottenham Hotspur, £2.7bn
    Denis O’Brien (Celtic) £1.87bn
    Stanley Kroenke (Arsenal) £1.85bn
    Glazer family (Manchester United) £1.53bn

    Cheers. <ok>

Kasey Keller was awesome for us. Must concede that Martyn was a good keeper too.

Unfortunately you are unable to raise with that hand - Banks and Shilton are arguably England's finest ever ... and I don't think there is much in terms of argument..

But that's 2 great goalkeepers compared to 4, and I would say Martyn was better than Shilton, though obviously we can't compare, but I'd say overall down the years we've had better 'keepers than you.

Outside of perhaps Leeds (and maybe some places in Cornwall) I doubt you'll find many that share that view - with all due respect, Ray Clemence was a better keeper tha Nigel - but was unfortunately around at the time that Shilts was in his pomp. Shilts learnt his trade from Gordon Banks whilst a young lad at Leicester and it showed. I couldn't pick between Banks and Shilton, they were both that good. It was no surprise to see Brian Clough snap shilts up as part of his master plan - and it worked.
