I wonder who did due diligence on Dani Osvaldo or Carrillo? Saints have form on signing strikers who are a waste of space. Lots of money wasted, money Saints can’t afford.
I will not hear a bad word said about Osvaldo. Absolute legend. Carillo though. Jesus Christ. Worst signing in premier league history in my opinion when you factor in club’s budgets. It was the biggest cock up I can remember. So so bad and anyone involved in scouting him should be sacked
I just remember him being really tall, not moving around much and I don’t think he got near the ball. I blame YouTube clips.
The “are recovering” statements seem to be based on very little Wolves have made great signings? We’d be going mental if we had signed the Lemina we know exists rather than the one on paper and a centre back not wanted by a team in the bottom three. I don’t know anything about Sarabia but apparently Guedes is rumoured to be on the way out. I’m pretty sure Sarabia isn’t an upgrade or even an equivalent Newcastle were too good to go down the year they did. So were West Ham the last time they did. There is no such thing as “too good to go down”. And Ings is already injured apparently having not even been deemed good enough to start for them (that’s the logic isn’t it - new signings should start straight away otherwise it is the manager’s faults and/or they aren’t good enough?) As for Forest - you, like many, a massively overrating Chris wood just because he happened to be available, has played in the premier league and we didn’t choose to sign him. He played at the weekend against one of the weakest defences in the league and didn’t score. And forest only scored once he went off. And again - the logic applied by many on here to our signings is that they should be thrown straight in and able to make and impact straight away otherwise they are not worth it. I’d say that is even more true for an expensive loan. So I’m not allowing him the gracious excuse of playing in a new team Now all that said - we are still utterly dreadful. But I’m not convinced all those clubs you mentioned are going to easily pull clear and leave just three or four behind
All of those teams beat us. And they have now strengthened their teams. Meanwhile we have gotten worse, now have a worse manager and we haven’t strengthened key areas at all. Forgive me for not being too positive when we still haven’t bought a striker or a goalkeeper.
I'd be prepared to bet that given 30 minutes and the name of any one of the six teams within three points of us, I could find a post on a fan forum naming us as one of the teams who won't be relegated because we're "too good" or have strengthened more than their team. Vin
Wasn’t there some rumour that it was at Mauricio Pellegrinos request and dear Leslie faced some backlash from the recruitment department for it? Probably nonsense but I’m sure I heard that somewhere.
yes, he was Pellegrinos boy after working with him previously- Just as the Osvaldo signing was pushed by Pochettino. Carrillo was all the more perplexing as Pellegrino was a dead man walking
Pelegrino should have been given more time. There was a great manager in there, just so many difficult moments.
Wonder how many teams fans would be jealous of our signings of Alcaraz and especially Orsic. Sure they'll be a few. But like you say, fans only see the negative.
https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soc...ier-league-transfers-of-all-time?platform=amp Maybe you’re right. Quite a few saints players high up on the list.
Jones getting chirpy because he managed to win a game is looking a bit silly again. Team looks totally blunt and pretty rudderless.
Oh. Okay. It’s hard to tell when listening, it sounded like we were attacking quite a bit and if only we had a striker we would have at least drawn. His team selection was odd, he has a resolute determination to play 3 CB’s no matter what the formation. Why on earth would you take KWP off for bednarek, Sounds like lack of a fullback and Orsic not defending made us weak on the left.
The 2nd half wasn't that bad. We were blunt I'll give you that - we had a fair bit of possession around their box but did **** all with it. But we were better than them 2nd half. 1st half... yeah it was pretty crap and Newcastle should have been at least 1 up.
