He played a strong team against Cardiff in the replay because he needed a win. The money is neither here nor there at this point of the cup. Its around 100 grand for 3rd round winners.

It was an easy home win and one he needed for the team to build a bit of momentum. Winning this Saturday is a must too as winning is a habit.

If we are that desperate for money, then I don't think the total prize money of winning the fa cup for any team that starts at the 3rd round proper of approx £4 mil, is going to make much of a difference to any premier League club.

Add in whatever you get from gate receipts and TV appearances then you are probably looking at around £15 mil in total, so surely this should be considered a bonus as opposed to the basis of the clubs financial model

    FUND PAYMENTS
Extra Preliminary Round winners (208) £1,125
Extra Preliminary Round losers (208) £375
    Preliminary Round winners (136) £1,444
    Preliminary Round losers (136) £481
First Round Qualifying winners (112) £2,250
First Round Qualifying losers (112) £750
Second Round Qualifying winners (80) £3,375
Second Round Qualifying losers (80) £1,125
Third Round Qualifying winners (40) £5,625
Third Round Qualifying losers (40) £1,875
Fourth Round Qualifying winners (32) £9,375
Fourth Round Qualifying losers (32) £3,125
First Round Proper winners (40) £41,000
Second Round Proper winners (20) £67,000
Third Round Proper winners (32) £105,000
Fourth Round Proper winners (16) £120,000
Fifth Round Proper winners (8) £225,000
    Quarter Final winners (4) £450,000
    Semi Final losers (2) £500,000
    Semi Final winners (2) £1,000,000
    Final runners-up (1) £1,000,000
    Final winners (1) £2,000,000

The team that wins this year's FA Cup will be given £2m for winning the final alone, up £200,000 on what Liverpool were awarded for doing so last year.

In total, adding up the prize money they'll receive at each stage, the victors will pocket around £3.9m assuming they entered in the third round.

That sum would be slightly higher if the winner plays outside the top two divisions and thus competed in the first two rounds as well.

What about the gate money i read accringtons and they made under £3 because they have to pay visiting teams hotel fees if wanting an overnight stay. Luckily they won and survived to play Boreham. So the winners prize money is a lifeline for them.

The cups a great financial lifeline for clubs outside the pl but a pittance for pl clubs compared to their other earnings

And I agree, it's a lifeline to any league 1 club and below and even some championship clubs, but if we as a premier League club are so desperate for income that we need to have a good cup run, then something fundamentally is wrong

I know the away team get a good chunck of the gate money too but not sure if that's after expenses.
This being on the TV will bring them more revenue, no idea what they get though.
