About five years ago I flagged Lawrence Shankland as a potential signing after seeing him on loan at my local team, to a friend who works in the scouting network at U18 level at the club....he passed this on to the first team scouts. We could have bought him for peanuts back then, but never heard anything back, and since then he's gone on to be a goal machine - 19 goals already this season, and MotM v Aberdeen in midweek. His record since my recommendation is pretty strong too.... Better than Lyndon Dykes anyway, certainly knows where the back of the net is. I wonder what it is our scouts actually look for....
I have thought about Shankland many times. Seeing his goals, they are not ones Dykes is capable of scoring. His 2nd YC was v harsh. Can't say i have heard of Ethan Ingram though TBH
Hugill gone to Rotherham on a free, thought it was money rather than ability that prevented qpr going in for him, if he’s gone to Rotherham looks like a worthy pass.
I read some stats somewhere showing Hugill scored more for us than he has done at any other Club in the Championship. He also played on through injury when we had no other recognised striker available. I doubt Rotherham have paid more for him than we could have done, and think he is another striker we could have done well by signing on a 1 or 2 year contract. Could have played well either up front with Dykes or Lowe.
