Have I missed something here? Has Pearson asked to speak with Leicester? If not why all the negative posts? If he has he is a very silly man and deserves all he will get, which will be the sack come May when he doesn't suceed in getting them into the Premier League.

I wonder if Nige is sat in his car listening to the clash at the minute? <whistle>

He has indeed asked to speak to them, he is indeed on his way and he will indeed be sacked if they don't go up this season.

Is there any way anyone can find out if Nige has been at the training ground today, and if he has or hasn't either way whats been going on there?

That's just not a good enough excuse, people keep rolling that one out but are his family not financially secure now? He's on a football manager's wage anyway ffs and he would have been due a new deal soon anyway. People moan about how football has become so spoilt by money and greed but here is a prime example and half the people on here seem to think it's fair enough that money is all that matters.

It annoys me even more that he has had us all convinced he's such an honest, old-fashioned type bloke but he's showing (if reports are true) that it's all about the money for him!

I'd be amazed if many people would turn down £2-£3million pounds no matter what the principles. It's **** that the money's about, but I don't blame the man for taking it. I certainly would.

The ones that should be more concerned should be the Leicester fans, because, while few managers would work for free, Nige has clearly gone to a set up he doesn't respect after milking himself the best personal deal.

I still think the main point is being ignored here. What is a few extra quid when you're already on a salary most of us couldn't dream of?

If rumours are true, it's about a £3.5 million pound 'few extra quid'. The compensation will be the remainder of his salary and £400,000 has been mentioned. If you'd turn down such an increase, you're either a better man than me or a fool, depending on perspective.

What do you reckon he owes us that should cost him so much?

He has indeed gone against all his principles. Get's rid of Bullard for being an over paid, over the hill, pre-madonna so he can build a squad of young hungry talent, to then walk away and go manage 30 over paid over the hill pre-madonna's. Good riddance!

If Bullard had played to his ability, his wages wouldn't have been an issue.

I've no idea what his current salary his or what Leicester are offering specifically. But as a successful football manager he is never going to be in financial trouble, he is sorted already, and if he stayed at City I'm sure he would take us to the PL and earn even more either through us or a big club further along the line. But jumping ship at the first sign of interest elsewhere for a bit more money sooner than expected, especially when everything else about the job screams disaster, doesn't attract much respect to me.

As I say, because I don't know the figures involved I can't say for sure what I'd do, but if say I was getting £300k a year at City and Leicester offered to make that £1m a year*. Those figures are already so ridiculously high that you wouldn't even notice the difference. I'd just choose whichever was the better job in terms of other factors (and we know which that is).

*Refrain from criticising the figures I've used, it's a complete guess.

This isn't a classic case of player/manager moving onto bigger and better things, this is the less common sideways/backwards step which is blatantly motivated by money alone. I wouldn't spite the guy getting his pay packet if he was going to an established PL club. But this seems more like a Bent to Villa, or a Bullard to us from Fulham scenario to me.

Ok, take the wags out of the equation and let's say in the summer NP was given £10 million to spend by the Allams. Do you think his 'footballing principles' would have led to us having the squad we have now or would it be filled with marquee signings?

I'm not been funny or anything but Leicester have to be the most fickle fans i've come across.

I remember when Sven was in charge and all they did was slag Pearsons style off.. it was boring, too defensive and he did hoofball? also he was a boring manager.

Now he's linked with them, theyre all of a sudden bumming over him? football nowadays.

I would expect Nigel to buy frugally. That's what increases the value of his own stock. It's a separate question.

My understanding is that your figures* are too close together.

*despite your instruction they can't be ignored as they're key to your point.

If you reckon he should turn down nearly £4 Million, I reckon you need to be quantifying what we've done that means he owes us it.

Fair point. A question more in line with situation, how many of the players that Sven bought in the summer, that NP is going to manage, would NP himself have spent the money on? How many of them are 'Pearson type players'?

Would anyone fancy Warren Joyce coming in as manager then?
