W We have some vicious 80 yr old supporters! Also families come and need snacks and small drinks and it should be allowed in a family club. The food and drink inside the ground is of a poor standard and overpriced.
All issues which could/should be sensibly discussed with club officials rather than whinge to the press or on social media.
Actually I think it is unfair.... they do the same at cricket....and then make you buy bottled water...... A lot of oldies will feel the cold in those stands in dark cold winter afternoon and evenings..... and probably dont want to joing a ruck for a hot drink in the 15 minutes half time gap....
Sure common sense can be used too. I find it unlikely older people or kids will be considered a risk to safety and violence. Will be some leeway .
I take some morsels (a 20+ year tradition) in to share with my pals but was stopped when going in and told not to bring it again. I usually buy two pints of beer (£5.80pt) in the ground, occasionally a coffee (another £3), and during the cold snap, Bovril for three (£8.55), it's been sub zero quite a lot of late and you all know the story of my pal... This pathetic pettiness will cost the club money.
I never go for half-time drinks or food. I don't buy supposed coffee from Starbucks or Costa when travelling in the UK. It is overpriced flavoured hot water. A good cup of proper coffee costs me around €2, and what comes out of a machine at the service station here is much more like proper coffee. To say you must buy what we offer, gives everyone the choice to do what I do, and not buy any of it.
My dad is 85 and we try to stop him ripping up the seats and hurling them at the officials, opposing teams/managers/fans, but he says he’s been doing it for decades. What can you do?
The coffee stations in the ground, not the regular concessions, but the stations opposite, are actually more than half decent if, still, overpriced.
I wouldn’t mind a pint at half-time, but I’ve only ever done it once (I think it was HT, it might’ve been pre-match, I don’t remember) when Mrs Andy bought it and gave it to me under the SEJ while I was watching a match on the tellies. She was buying something for the boys and, as it was a hot day, when she asked me if I fancied a drink, I yes please and as to what, I answered “Whatever you think I’d like.” I think she did it as a joke to a large extent, but it was very enjoyable! Intuitive, but also beautiful, funny, intelligent… Is it any wonder she married me?
I go to the Tring Brewery bar in the UGT. Marvellous. There used to be a stall selling Chiltern Beechwood Bitter, which was delivered and set up by one of their executives who is a STH.
I'm type 2 and I've told them twice when asked that the drink I'm bringing in is for that purpose, they have always let me in with it. Inside I get a coffee most times. Incidentally, this rule has been in place previously. Maybe they got lax but memory tells me it started before the pandemic. Also I think they act differently depending on which stand you are entering into. For example I see they use metal detectors on Vic Road but not the EJS.
They’re a dodgy lot in the Vic Road end. I mean, call it the Family Enclosure, but we all know that’s a cover for our under-12 Ultras, aka ‘Junior Hornets’ (as if that moniker ever fooled us).
It's still a very young team as witnessed by 17 year olds breaking through to the first team rather than the more mature "U23" aged players.
The top 25 earners in the Championship, according to this. I had no idea that Hause is our highest paid player on £50K per week although presumably Villa will be paying a chunk of that? https://www.burnleyexpress.net/spor...esbrough-stars-who-make-the-rich-list-3999826
Hope so ! Says it all though that someone like him who hasn't been much more than a squad player at Villa earns that much. Suspect Sarr is probably our highest paid player who is contracted to us.
