This is probably just the club trying to nip the `Kane leaving` rumours in the bud, they won`t want these rumours unsettling the team for the rest of the season and so have moved to quash it. Obviously, I would love Kane to stay and finish his career with Spurs, but if he wants medals he would be a fool to stay, with the footballing climate how it currently is, it is highly unlikely he wins a trophy (or trophies) under our investment company owners.
Since moving down to the south west I’ve only gone back for 3 games, admittedly that’s been largely due to train strikes as well as maintenance and even a mud slide at my local train station but I’ve not missed it and don’t have plans to go to a game any time soon. Excluding covid, I’d only missed about 15-20 home games in the previous 17 or so years prior to this last 9-10 months. Only thing I’m missing is the day out, pre and post game with friends and family, the football can get in the bin. Doing roughly an 8 hour round trip watching the stuff we’re churning out is not remotely appealing in the slightest, especially knowing that depending on the match category I get between £40-£65 back every game from my season ticket sale.
I doubt the media overly unsettles a team with transfer rumours to be honest, the players will know from Kane’s mouth what his plans are. I’d love for Kane to stay too, I just think from his perspective it’s not the best decision as much as I don’t like saying that. It would be criminal if a player of his calibre finished his career without a trophy, and a significant one too. He’s one of the very best players in world football, his CV should’ve been littered with medals.
There's only one thing for it: give H the Mbappe deal! I mean we will be needing a new DoF for a bit...
We're currently in the phase of various sites, blogs and Twitter feeds tripping over each other as they dream up which player we're sending to Roma in part exchange for Zaniolo Football BSider has come out of the gates saying it'll be Bryan Gil HITC are simply assuming it'll be Japhet Tanganga (which is simply regurgitating what La Repubblica said last summer) Can;t wait for the Turkish sources to get involved...
One of my brothers goes up to Bruce Grove and watches the match in a pub, with all of his mates. Hardly anyone there goes to the match anymore. Poch's departure/Mourinho's appointment was the end for them. I could go back but not until the club is sorted out, top to bottom. Currently, it's a mess and I'm not spending my hard earned to prolong that state of affairs.
Who knows what is going on, but Conte should realise that we are a project at the moment and both Levy & him will probably be waiting until the end of the season to see where this is going. Conte will want to see an ambitious approach to transfers, and Levy will want to see some progression on the pitch. What the football club does not need, is another managerial change and Conte replaced with another Levy Lapdog, while ENIC continue as they always have. At least with Conte here, he will be demanding of the board to improve on the pitch, bringing in another (less demanding) manager will let Levy off the hook again. Sure we may play some better football in the short term, and results may get a temporary lift, but long term we will all be here having the same discussion in 18-24 months time, rinse and repeat.
Add in that Paratici's position looks increasingly untenable and it is he who Conte reports to. Take him out of the picture and tensions will only rise... It's a terrible mess.
Rudy Galetti claims that PSG are ready to gazump us for Zaniolo Fingers crossed that there might be something to this...
how convenient that these rumours have appeared when we’ve just heard about the situation with Paratici, and conte supposedly leaving. the timing is incredible. Almost as if it’s a bit of positive PR from the club because of the disastrous week we’ve had, and the fact we’ve signed no one. couldn’t make it up!
To be fair if the story came from The Sun or Mirror or some B-tech journo I'd be inclined to agree it was a PR push by the club but Ornstein's a very respected journo that rarely posts stuff without substance. It does also just merely say he'll enter talks over a new deal, not that he's actually intent on signing it. Probably wants to see if we'll make it worth his while to not win any trophies by picking up a fat wedge pay packet
Tbh once kane beats Greaves record he's gone. I disliked his attitude in the summer of 2021 but he has given his all and kept his mouth shut since so have no issue his wish to win a trophy or two. Imho Haarland will win stuff with City...either the league or CL ... he'll smash PL scoring records and be off to Spain and City will get Kane.
Haaland gets PL and CL medals with Citeh, and he's safe. Gets a few PL medals, but a n0n PL club is doing a Madrid in CL dominance, he's gone to them. Kane will surpass Greavsies' goal stats at Spurs. But go to where ?? Any PL club that dares to take him will face Fefgie 2 : hip surgery boogaloo.
Porro Watch ...or, to be more accurate, Porro Adjacent Watch, as Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Sporting are in negotiations to loan in Bologna RWB Denso Kasius Zaniolo Watch Plenty of sources saying that Milan have made a late play, with both Di Marzio and Fabrizio Romano reporting this story - while Matteo Moretto claims that Zaniolo's preference is to remain in Italy...and in case anybody wants to be a smartass, the terms Milan are offering are the exact same loan + obligation that we offered So that's two reasons to cross our fingers
We offered a loan + option, not obligation. So hopefully that will seal the deal with Milan and we'll avoid signing Lamela mk.II
To be honest, that's unfair on Lamela as he had end product Zaniolo's end product is so dire this season that Emerson, Sessegnon and Lenglet all have better xA than Zaniolo does, which is why I cannot fathom why Conte thinks he's the player our system needs (see also: Denzel Dumfries at RWB)
I prefer to think Kane just had bad advice because he has played some great games for Spurs since that period. I have no doubt he would have gone if City had met Spurs price but he settled down once the deal was off and did his best for Spurs. Going elsewhere to win a cup has little value compared to the legend he would become if he just stayed at Spurs and kept scoring.
He’s already achieved legend status in my opinion. By the end of this season he’ll hold every attacking record possible a the club and will be regarded as one of, if not the club’s greatest player. The only thing missing on his CV are medals and as much as I want him to win them here, I’m struggling to see it happening. I wouldn’t begrudge him leaving us, footballers have short careers albeit extremely profitable ones, ending it here with a possibility of no trophies will leave him filling unfulfilled I think. The Spurs faithful will revere him but the wider footballing community will likely always say “but he never won anything” when conversations over footballing greats arise - and make no mistake, he’s a footballing great.
So depending on what you wanna believe: We've offered €37m + bonuses + a player for Porro. or We’re set to offer the €45m release clause for him. 24 days in and we’re either offering a deal that’ll essentially surpass his €45m valuation but just spread out in payments and assets or we’re finally offering what’s been demanded since before the window even opened… Yeah, great decision to try haggling, guys. It’s not like we could’ve done with him earlier this month…
