Any idea how much we got for him ? At least we don't need to pay his wages anymore. Good luck to him at Rangers
Sounds about right , I read Rangers agree 7 figure deal , with his contract expiring in the summer at least we got something back
Looking back, I'd say that Buendia's arrival was as much the making of Todd as it was the making of anybody. Todd fed off Emi every bit as much as Teemu did.
So with Ramsay's wages presumably off the books with the recall, Todd gone, and a few U23 departures, surely that's released enough funds to at least look at a loan player coming in? Current first choice 4-2-3-1 is: Krul Aarons Hanley Omobamidele Giannoulis McLean Sara Dowell Sargent Hernandez Pukki Backups Gunn Byram Gibson ?Sorensen? McCallum Gibbs Nunez Sinani ???? ???? Idah With Hayden, Rowe, Placheta injured, and speculation Hugill is out the door. I think that's everyone accounted for. Reminds me a little of the squad makeup when Dean Smith ran 4-2-2-2 with limited success last season. Worked well for a brief spell, but we never had the depth to handle an injury to any of the front 4. The quality of depth players available drops off significantly in attacking areas, and at CB.
One possibility would be to play Giannoulis in the attacking role on the left, ahead of McCallum. It's not new to him; he's played there for Greece, with Tsimikas at left back.
Hugill reportedly undergoing a medical at Rotherham so that should be more wages saved. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/23272361.norwich-city-jordan-hugill-set-join-rotherham-united/ You could also include McGovern as third keeper. Gibson actually suits Wagner's tactics as he's left footed, which means that McLean, Sorenson or Gibbs can drop back between the CBs as the deep playmaker/3rd CB when the ball is lost. Wagner seems to rate Sorenson, who has CB or FB skills and could fit well as playmaker/3rd CB. The same is true of Gibbs to a lesser extent. I don't understand the emphasis on 'wide players' as it's the FBs who provide the width in Wagner's tactics. Hernandez is a natural wide player, but under Wagner his role is to push in to get the ball into the box. He rarely crosses from the edge. I also think that Sinani is a useful option on the right or even as a striker to cover for injuries. The current 23 man squad leaves room for a new loan player and possibly a bargain signing like Bachus for the rumoured £350,000 St Mirren are said to be asking for him.
Wagner seems very pleased with Sara and Nunez: https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/23270207.norwich-city-david-wagner-sara-nunez-canaries-impact/
I hope so, he’s been so unfortunate to miss such a big part of this season, he would have got game time I feel. He has used his time away to bulk up, looks an absolute unit now
Sinani to Coventry or Birmingham. Had a good season with Huddersfield on loan, but seems out of favour at CR. So, Cantwell, Hugill and possibly Sinani transferred: looks like a squad thinning out process? Pukki might be next if the right offer comes in.
