We know why you're so prosperous, Nadhim...

We also know you're not happy...

No matter how hard you try to say otherwise...

I've heard rumours that Johnson is planning a rare moral boosting trip to Uxbridge as soon as he finds it on the map

Unlikely, given he's trying to weasel his way into a safe seat and has been trying to for months

That's why Dorries was set for the Lords until a rare outbreak of common sense, as the randy Honey Monster wanted to move into the 24,000 majority in her seat as the 7000 in Uxbridge & South Ruislip probably isn't as safe a majority as he thought it was

Today in antivaxxer idiocy, they're posting videos of themselves shaking to "prove" they are suffering side effects of getting the jab 18+ months ago, most of which look uncannily like they are picking up a can of soda and shaking their hand for the camera

The fact that I've seen about half a dozen accounts "independently" *ahem* all doing the same thing in the last 36-48 hours is the sort of thing a decent investigative journalist would dig into

Here's a couple of examples of what I'm talking about

It says something when the story of 10's possibly 100's of missing / kidnapped children from HO Immigration 'custody' might only just outdo the previous Tory Corruption scandals....<doh>

Ah, but you'd be a fool and a communist to think there's a connection between having a gun and shooting people and not having a gun and not shooting people...

As someone that has in the past fired various weapons (and really doesn't miss that sort of thing) I thought I'd offer my 2p worth.

In my experience, firing a powerful weapon to an extent makes certain people feel powerful. It doesn't take a body language expert to see how people change when they have a weapon. And that's just on the range! But here's the thing. The people that are familiar with weapons as part of their job, and who practice with them in ways that emphasise safety and general respect for weapons tend not to be the people you have to worry about. For all the tendency of ex-military to be somewhat more right of centre in terms of politics, what you don't generally get from them are mass shootings*. But it's not simply a matter of access to weapons, it's societal attitude to them too. Switzerland has a quite high access to weaponry (not as much as the US but still a lot more than here) without the same per capita slaughter. It's the insane lack of control (including various things including training and security) you don't get in the States that is just as much a problem as access to weapons. Carrying a loaded weapon in public should always be a "special" experience, and that's for people trained to do so. What you get in the States is for it to be completely normal, but people with none to minimal training. And as for the "right to bear arms" bollocks, firstly that was not in the constitution it was itself an amendment to the constitution, secondly it was specified to be in terms of an organised militia (to which most of these nutjobs clearly don't belong), and thirdly by accepting this "right" for someone to carry, you are saying that it more important than the right of someone not to get randomly shot. Like that poor primary school teacher recently (where these incidents get replaced in the news so quickly it's too easily forgotten).

Anyway just wanted to point out that the problem is far more than just access, it's attitude.

And finally on the people that feel more powerful with a weapon, perhaps that's why some take pleasure in hunting powerful animals. I'm not referring to people who hunt to eat. I'm talking the people that shoot bear or go on hunting safari etc. Don't know why such an uneven contest would make them feel powerful. If they want to really feel powerful they should take on a bear in hand to hand combat. No, really, I wish they would.

    * Yes I know Oswald was a marine, but Kennedy was more like an assassination. Though that is rather an exception from ex-military types, and it wasn't a 'mass shooting'.

My thoughts on guns are pretty much encompassed in this...

There's no good reason for civilians to have guns. Mrs B's been a police officer for 30 years and is fundamentally against British Police Officers using firearms, other than in very limited circumstances and I'd agree with that. The less guns there are in a country, the less likely mass murder events are..

Fortunately most civilians are poor shots. I've been shot at twice in my life and thankfully, both times the perpetrator missed...but, whilst it's true that guns don't kill people, people do...people with guns can kill a lot more people, quicker than people with clubs, baseball bats, knives, etc.

I wouldn't want to live in a country where gun ownership is more prevalent than it is in the UK and from having an extended family member keeping shotguns at his (suburban) home address, with enough shells to start a small war, I'd prefer current regs. to be even tougher than they currently are

Former top FBI agent Charles McGonigal has been accused of working on behalf of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska who has been on the US sanctions list since 2018:
    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/breaking-former-fbi-head-charles-29030163

"McGonigal, 54, led the FBI’s counterintelligence division in New York before retiring in 2018."
That's the New York field office that leaked a load of anti-Clinton **** prior to the 2016 election.
    It was nicknamed Trumpland.
He went on to be involved in the Trump-Russia investigation.

At times like this, with a Government mired in sleaze and scandal, wouldn't it be good to hear from anyone prepared to offer an 'alternative' view or opinion. Or are we now at a stage that noone outside of the Cabinet is willing to defend this shower of ****?

Meanwhile, this is an interesting insight into one of those scandals

Much as I despise the charlatans in charge, it was refreshing to see whoever that was replying for the government, actually answering the question and doing so with some degree of competence and seriousness... rather than the usual guff and dismissive ridicule we normally get from those on the front bench aka the lying, sack of ****es who demean the role of parliamentary democracy.
