    How about.....

His mother told him "someday you will be a man
And you will be a leader in the Saints back line
Many people coming from miles around
To see you play your football when the sun go down
Maybe someday your name will be up in lights
    Saying "Janny B. scored tonight"

    Go, go
    Go Janny, go
    Go, go, go Janny, go
    Go, go, go Janny, go
    Go, go, go Janny, go
    Go
    Janny be good

EDIT: Just saw LTL's post. I'll have to get quicker.

Fits in perfectly with West Ham's apparent club policy of buying overpriced and overpaid crocks.

I'd say that Janny B has been our best performing CB over the past five years as a whole (not a high bar granted!) He had a really poor spell last season partnered with Sally Sue but if he can perform like he was prior to that then he could prove to be an asset again.

Playing a CB at FB is just silly. We kept trying to attack through Edozie in the first half against Villa, but the poor kid was attacking 1v2 most of the time because he had no support on the wing. I'm not Perraud's biggest fan, but he's at least an actual fullback.

Yep. It's been a regular problem under Jones, regardless of whether he plays a back three or a back four.

With the former, because it's generally been combined with playing a front two, the WBs both get isolated (and to make it worse, neither KWP nor Perraud are really WBs; they are FBs being asked to play further forward). With the latter, as you say, it leaves the winger (on on the CB-FB side) isolated.

Either way, it makes it so easy for the opposition, and so difficult for us. 1vs2, time and time again.

For me, the game starts out 11 vs 11 and so really the reasons for players being caught out or overrun is due to the a combination of the ability of the player to play the position and the ability of the manager to ensure that the players are playing the positions the way the formation dictates. This is true in both an attacking and a defending sense.

A FB may struggle to play WB as much as a CB may struggle to play FB. If the manager wants the WB to be more attack minded then if the play turns, someone has to back them up (either the LCB/RCB needs to pull the CBs across or the DMs need to cover the wing in the event the WB bombs forward - assuming a back 3). Of course, a lot of this is down to the instructions but also the players' ability to spot the danger of a turnaround and react. Similarly, you need to balance the play so that you don't over commit or under commit. If playing 3 at the back and the opposition only has 1 striker, you could argue 1 of the other two CBs is redundant for much of the game.

I think in our case, Jones is trying to get the players to play a certain way but that it doesn't really work unless teams are pressing on to us (3-5-2/3-4-1-2). We then need the back 4 route to try and break teams down when we need to. Of course, if he starts with one formation and then needs to change, it may be that he has to play the odd square peg in a round hole. I guess that's where he needs to earn his crust!

Please put your hand up if you criticised SR for not GOING ALL OUT to get Danny Ings or called us a joke of a club for not signing him or other words to that effect.

Think we’ll sign the Luton Right Back and that will be it. Really hope I’m wrong though.
