The original destroyers of football. I expect no more or less from them. People complain about us but we don't throw good money after bad in a blind attempt to fix things.
Howe said no, but I've now seen it reported by 3 different media companies, so who knows, it might be on.
Now is the time to sell him, before he triggers the auto extension on his contract. Just hope he can pass the medical.
Given our league position and our money, I'm kind of disappointed that Gordon is the best we're being linked with. Makes me worried that the owners doesn't have as much ambition as they let on. If there's any time to invest it's now.
Agree with the disappointment of Gordon. But I think we are restricted on spend way more that some other clubs, until we sort out some BIG sponsorship deals and/or start getting enhanced revenue for success on the pitch.
I think being 3rd and in the LC Semi-final means it's ahead of schedule. To be clear, our wages are 97% of turnover, because the owners have shown an incredible amount of ambition. January is a terrible window and I guarantee Gordon isn't a) 1st choice, or b) the only option we're exploring. But we're now competing with the greedy 6 - that means when we start talking to a player, their agent or club can start touting around the likes of Chelsea or whoever to drive a better deal. As I said, Santos, Fresneda and now Franca are gone or doubtful because another club, on better footing than we're on, can do a deal.
I'm not expecting a massive amount spent, but I do think this is a good opportunity that shouldn't be thrown away. I'm not asking for a massive amount to be spent. Even just one great attacking option would be satisfactory. Gordon is alright, but I was hoping for better.
I'm pretty sure that we'll bring some in... I cannot see a situation where we let Wood go and without bringing in a striker, knowing what we all know, don't bolster the midfield with more quality. There will be deals being done - just not in the papers.
Yeah but the wage situation doesn't help, nor does the fact so much of our squad is incredibly undesirable. Lewis, Murphy, Fraser, Dummett, Lascelles, Shelvey; nobody wants them for a decent enough fee. That Shelvey is allegedly only attracting interest from Besiktas says it all.
TBH with the way we are doing this year - I'm not overly worried about incomings. Yes we are short on QUALITY across the squad but tbh I think we have enough in the tank to get over the line in some form of European spots, whatever that looks like - that was beyond everyone's wildest dreams not 5 months ago so do we ABSOLUTELY need to go out and splash the cash in January? No. If it's a choice between Gordon in January or keeping out powder dry until the summer when the big sponsors come in when we might have a chance to draw some better players I'm happy to believe in Eddie and the squad and staff we have at present to get us to the summer in a good position. Pre-season TOP Expectations - top 10 and a QF... Currently - 3rd and in a SF....
Gordon I just about understand, flashes of pace and ability, but the links to McTominay are ****ing mystifying.
Maybe EH sees something in him that he can coach. You have to remember, like us under Bruce, Manchester United have had **** managers who lacked any sense of coaching. Just look at Almiron
Eddie could probably get a lot out of Gordon. And he's got some talent and the fighting spirit required just maybe needs some good coaching to channel that.
He is also a bit of a twat though. Yes, I think he has some ability, but I can't stand how he dives around cheating and always seems to be looking for a fight. Just play the game!
