With the Everton game obliterating our midfield do you think it'll give Vuckic a chance in the first team? Just seen that he's returned to fitness and scored a goal for the reserves against Wigan, we all know he's a great prospect and despite him being a more attacking player I think I'd rather see him on the bench for the Man City game over Abeid, he's been here for longer and has a better understanding of the English game. I realise one of his first Premier League games against Man City would be throwing him in at the deep end to say the least, but sometimes I think that's one of the best ways for a young player to show what they're really made of. Not that my opinion means anything of course, just wanted to see if you lads agree its the perfect time to give him a shot
Yes i think also Tiote and Cabaye will play with possibly Guthrie too and playing 1 upfront....and then behind them i would say Gosling so i cant see Vuckic getting a game for a while
It really would be like throwing him into the Marianas Trench and I think that the Man City match is a little too intense to drop him in. Hoping that Cabaye and Tiote recover over the next few weeks and are back in time to start. If they aren't ready then certainly Guthrie to start and perhaps Gosling alongside. Vuckic and/or Abied on the bench. It may just be that we play Ben Arfa as the AM and tell Danny to play the DM role again.
Just realised I made it sound a lot like he should start, more meant I'd like to see him get a bit of game time. If things are going tits up against City which is a very real possibility, could at least use the game to show how good some of our youngsters are if they can come on and impress, regardless of result.
Pardew has made it clear this weekend he wants to find him and Abeid a good championship team as they are too good to just be playing reserve games. He obviously rates them both very highly but judging by these comments it looks as though they are going to have the wait for there chance.
Him, Abeid and Fergie are all going on loan. We still have Guthrie, Gosling and possibly Tiote and Cabaye fit for CM. EDIT: and Smith at least if he comes on, one of his leg breaker challenges might catch de Jong...
I think its just Sammy that 'profits' from the injuries really, and only that because he plays out wide. Vuckic and Abeid will just go out on loan and leave Gosling and Guthrie to play in the centre. Sammy will get games if Obertan and Marvaeux are out for long, since i get the feeling Pardew REALLY doesnt like chaning the shape of the team or using players in various different positions, if theyre still getting used to one. e.g. Santon and/or Raylor as RM/LM.
Wouldn't want to see his confidence suffer and this may be a step too soon. He's almost ready but a little more time to settle won't do him any harm. Maybe a 15 minute substitution near the end to acclimatise him.
