If it's good enough for Nathy J, then it's good enough for me.

The best bets I ever placed in my life were on Bednarek to score. I was regularly getting odds in the 30s. He scored four goals in 34 matches in his last season.

I'd be quite happy with that.

And, before he clearly fell out with Ralph, he was one of our better defenders - he made Vesty look good, for heaven's sake.

Assume Bednarek has made himself available for the 2 semi-final matches (unlike the FA Cup quarter-final last season)...??

I was never a fan of us bringing in another budget centre half anyway. Rather we focused funds elsewhere. Janny B for nothing far better than an inflated loan fee for Michael Keane or an unknown championship centre half in my book.

Just focus on bringing some goals in. Please. Pretty please.

Think this is a good move myself. He's a decent defender but one who is in no way suited to playing a high line which is why he struggled so much in recent years.

Now we don't play that way I think he'll fit in well. I'd probably start him ahead of Salisu on current form tbh.

Worth remembering that almost everyone on here was delighted with him signing a new deal as we were worried about losing him.

Not for the Newcastle games. He played for us in the earlier rounds against Cambridge.

Can't play against Blackpool though as he lost to Stevenage. Lol.

    Ah, good spot <ok>

That's why you don't trust wiki folks...

I'd definitely start him in away leg if we've got something to defend.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Salisu is great in the tackle, but he is still a liability, and I just don't think he commands the defensive line like a CB should. His positioning at set pieces is piss poor. Look at any of the set-pieces we've conceded, and he is never marking anyone. Always just floating around by himself. You'd think that would give him an advantage maybe, since he's not jostling anyone, but apparently no. The Everton goal was a prime example of this. Any half-decent CB standing where Sally was, heads it out. He somehow managed to miss it.

I've always been harsh on him, I admit that. but I really think we need to drop him, temporarily. We need a couple of Eastern Europeans in there right now to fix the leaks. The fact that Janny B scored 4 goals last season, and Sally has never scored even one, seems to suggest that JB is a far better header of the ball; more willing to get his f*cking head on it no matter what.

EDIT: If cup-tied, this still applies to league games.

Just don't start Janny B and Sally Sue as a pair (zero chemistry) and it might work . The only time that the former has been poor for us was when they were CB partners.

I’m loving this rebranding solution from Jones.

I have a feeling the Janny B years will be his best

I agree that Salisu is ****

I disagree that Janny B will make it any better.

I also am gutted that this loan cancellation pretty much confirms that 5 at the back is going to be Nj’s preferred tactic.

****ing clueless all round to be honest.

I'm hardly pleased at the news - I was happy for us to sell Bednarek last January, before most people turned on him later. But if Jones is going to persist on playing three CBs - whether that be as a back three, or as a back four with a CB at FB - then it does make sense to have five CBs on our books. And because I'd much rather we spent our money on more important things than a fifth choice CB, getting Bednarek back to do that does avoid needing to make such a signing.

But I'd rather we just stopped playing three CBs to be honest.

(I'm also not surprised at the news. Telegrahph mentioned about a month ago that Jones was thinking about recalling him. And it would have been a weird thing for them to make up.)

All this makes sense. I never really believe all the media hype anyway. Most of it is manufactured to suit needs etc. Let's give Nathan his due and hope he can get Jan to play well again.
