I would like someone to explain just how Nathan Jones is an improvement of Ralph. The new manager has come in and we have the same issues yet persist with picking the same players who have failed all season. I thought Edosie and KWP were the best players for us in the first and second halves respectively. By the same token, the front line looked ineffectial. In addition, I found the substitutions baffling. I get the fact that they were tryng to protect Lavia but I did not feel that it acted as a catylist for us. All in all, i do not believe that Jones is an upgrade of Hassenhutl and almost certainly inferior by quite a distance. We offered no treat up front with Armstrong's miss being particularly shocking. Shame Adams was equally ineffectual this afternoon. A really poor game of football.
The ref in my opinion cost us at least a point, if not 3. AV did a good job on us but had lots of 'external' help.
So despite every PL match for us in January being important and winnable, we've ultimately ended up benefitting from just 40 minutes of "fresh blood" this entire month. Everything else we've used in the league this month is what we already had; players who had already taken us to the bottom of the league. Hardly a shock that we'll be ending the month still in that position.
All that has been upgraded is the harmony in the squad but what that achieves is very little. We now have a largely ineffectual group who are happier and that's not going to get us very far. Tactically we haven't progressed much at all. Jones has got the established lot working harder than under Ralph but the established lot aren't going to cut it as we've already seen. Jones is on a hiding to nowhere currently as Adams and Diallo won't deliver what we need. Alcaraz and Orsic are much vital parts of the puzzle. He needs to get them game time asap and no doubt has one eye on the cup games coming up. We could still get lucky yet and win more than we lose.
The biggest disappointment for me was the people sat around me. Bought tickets late so couldn’t get in the family stand, I thought the chapel would be ok to take little Locum. I was wrong. Facking ****, facking bastard every word out of their lowlife mouths. When their keeper celebrated their goal the guy next to me said “you facking argie bastard”. In the toilets afterwards one twat shouted “Jones you ****ing Welsh ****” right next to my 8 year old son.
Whatever you think of our performance, or Villas, the utter joke from VAR to disallow our goal was a result altering decision. Sure we could and should have done more on the pitch to win it, weird subs, poor/average performances by too many but ultimately the game was decided by VAR making a shocking call.
If we sign a striker AND Jones starts picking players in their proper positions, we’re looking at Bazunu KWP DCC Salisu Peraud Lavia Alcarez Edozie JWP. Orsic Striker Subs: Caballero , Lyanco , AMN, Diallo, Ely, Aribo. Djenepo, Mara, Adams That’s quite an exciting looking team! And I’d still be happy to give Mara a run on games up front if we don’t sign anyone up front
This is the team I would pick. I don’t know why Perraud isn’t played more? He’s a solid enough defender and isn’t bad going forward.
Not read any of the pages yet. I thought we played okay and deserved something from the game. If the goal stands (as it should have done) we go on and get three points, very fine margins. The subs of Lavia I get, he is trying to protect him, Edozie less so, as he had the left back on toast, but did take a knock earlier. Adams for Mara was just plain bad. I did not think Mara worked hard enough when he came on. Yes, we lacked quality, but the spirit was good. I was so Jones out after the Forest game, but given the three wins, and today was unfortunate, as we deserved something. I though the referee was atrocious throughout the game, giving so much to Villa and allowing them (Martinez) to timewaste excessively
Do you mean the offside goal or when we scored again for the alleged foul, or when Martinez did a finger tip save from Djenepo. I am a little bit confused!
Djenepos shot was the only decent moment in the second half. Aside from that we didn’t really threaten.
Martinez save from Armstrong, goal disallowed, I know not back to the walls stuff for Villa, but certainly there was some intent
Deepest sympathy. I had one similar in Block 11. Dread to think what happens at the homecoming welcome. 'How did the match go love? '
Other than scoring a perfectly good goal that was disallowed, Mara’s header just wide of the post, and Salisu’s header over the bar?
I don’t think my son cared. He noticed the swearing but knows not to talk like that. I picked someone up on it a few years ago and it almost ended up in a fight.
We had an xG of 0.67. Two-thirds of that came from a single chance: Adam Armstrong hitting it directly at the keeper from twelve yards. We created very little, ultimately.
And that is the reason that this season will be my last as a season ticket holder as I have nearly lost all interest in football. The cheating, greed, VAR, media only really interested in the biggest clubs, behaviour of some fans. I don't want us to go down, but would I be as pissed off as last time? To be honest no!!!!!!
Yeah, if we go down I’ll probably go more. Better atmosphere too. Chappel was the worst of all worlds today. Boring, miserable old racists who swear non-stop. At least in the Northern you get some singing. And cocaine.
I have totally lost my voice from singing in the Northam today I made it my personal mission to try and get the crowd to be the 12th man. Thought the crowd was overall pretty poor but pleased to see that there was some togetherness at the end. We need to be the 12th man if we are to stay up.
