When Perraud was stripping off, I assumed it was Jones rectifying his error of trying to be Pep or Arteta (namely KWP at LB and Lynaco at RB). Such an easy tactical switch to bring Perraud on for Lyanco, put KWP on the right, stay with a back four. I didn't expect Perraud coming to be as part of moving to a back five. It also didn't help that Lavia and Edozie came off as part of that switch. Thought they were our two best players.
Without a new striker we aren't going to pick up enough points to stay in the league. It's as simple as that imo

Can't agree with that. Thought they were comfortably the better team bar a 10 minute period in the second half. No shame in losing to this lot though as their squad is miles ahead of us. Probably a top 20 manager in the world too. They've got Coutinho, who must be at least 5x better than all of our AM's put together, on the ****ing bench ffs.

A positive is we are still a draw away from being off the bottom. Oh and Napoli are 2-0 up away to Salernitana. And top by miles in Serie A
That was a hard afternoon. Cold, pretty boring, poor referring, no luck & tbh, **** performance. 0-0 would have been fair but when you’re bottom, that’s what you get. My only positive; better to get 3 pts vs EFC & lose against Villa, rather than the other way round. Marginal but that’s it.
They’re both young, one’s just recovering from a long injury. If you’re going to make changes it made sense for them to come off. We were the better team for the last 15 minutes anyway so it almost worked
Yeah, they were the better team, their league position shows that. But they never looked like winning, and without a huge slice of luck they wouldn’t have done
Lavia's 4th start in a row where he's subbed off on the hour mark. Regularly subbing off one of your best players after an hour is crazy. Regularly subbing off your midfield shield, at any time of the match, is crazy. The only justification is if he is still having fitness issues. Which might be the case, I don't know. But if it is, then it just goes to show how badly we need to sign another option to play there.
Also shows how crazy it is to rely on an 18 year old with next to no first team experience for your entire midfield.
