as long as they show fight. it was better v wolves but wolves are **** so this is a clear opportunity for 3 or 4 players to stake a claim again. we need a big big game from both keita and bajcetic.
Watching Oxlaide Chamberlain's interview on football focus. Says he's still got the fight to compete. I wish he'd show it sometime.
It is a shame but i'm happy that Gakpo's playing in his preferred position. And I think Salah is better off these days down the middle. Allowing Elliott to play in his best position.
Can’t argue with that line up. The midfiekd actually played well v wolves and although chelsea should be tougher opponents it’s a kick up the ass to some of the other senior pros that if you play **** and someone else comes in and does well, you aren’t getting right back in the team. The confidence this should give to Elliott and Bajcetic in particular is great.
I hope that’s a reverse jinx and he’ll now score a hat trick. But I’m not impressed with Gakpo. He looks like a rush buy and seems to need 5 chances to score 1.
nervy. thiago puts bajcetic in the book by playing blind pass. no leader on set pieces. gakpo had hacertz and let him go from second ball in. that was only a free cos gomez failed to clear properly
Thankfully we’ve got into the game after the first 10-15 minutes. It could go either way but we are the home side and I would expect more possession and pressure from us in the second half. Our vulnerability to set pieces without VVD is worrying though.
World Cup is so deceiving, not a great cauldron , many mismatched teams can make some players, look like world's best , reality is very different.
Don't like writing players off after a handful of games, but I wasn't that impressed with Gakpo at the WC, and I'm even less impressed now. I appreciate he's only a replacement for Origi, and he'll be benched when/if Jota and Diaz are back, but even Lambert made a better show than this. And we could have used that money to get Amrabat.
