Enjoyed the game despite getting beat. Thought first half they used the width well and had very good movement which caused us problems. We could easily have gone in two/ three down although Connelly had a great chance. Second half we more than matched them on open play but didn't cause them enough problems in the final third. Shame Tetteh got sent off because he looked excellent and now got a three game ban. Their goal started with us not winning that 50/50 ball in the midfield then bad marking. Walking away from the stadium I was listening to three of their fans chatting and basically they said what I thought - Hull were a very good footballing team who lacked punch up front but it made it a nervy game. Overall it was a shame for all our good play we didn't make their keeper work a bit more but to go to a team at the top and play like we did was very good. The big thing now is to move on and hope we get our home from improved results wise because that's were our problems lay.
But we need players who can come off the bench and change a game. Tufan is one such player. We've all said (me included) that we've often had no one to bring on who can make a difference.
I'd have to have a think but can't think of many games Meyler scored two in to pull us from 2-1 down to 3-2 up. He's scored a lot of goals to ice a victory though, so you could be right. And I say that as a massive Meyler fan.
Tufan offered zilch off the bench, didn't change anything. Froze in the bright lights.
His goal against Liverpool put us 2-1 up and turned the game in our favour.
Maybe so last night but the other week he came on and got the equalizer against Sunderland
I'm well aware - I was there.
But again, not two goals to bring us from behind to leading. So citing games he performed in that Slater hasn't even had a chance to play in is hardly fair.
Agree, he's fine in games against lower quality sides.
The original point made was that "Slater is the new Meyler." My underlying point is that he can't be because neither he nor we are playing at the level Meyler achieved. (Although I do recognise that the original point was probably about the way in which Slater divides fan opinion)

"I'm proud of the players' efforts. They pushed a very, very good team all the way. Even with 10 men, we threw the kitchen sink at it and they were holding on.
"With a little bit more belief and confidence in the final third, we had so many chances to score. We more than matched them for large periods of the game.
"I need [Tetteh] out on the pitch. It's a mistake and he's apologised to the players, the staff and I. He's a good lad but an emotional guy. We'll deal with it."

Yes this was the point. You taking it literally was rather redundant and what I was getting at. Slater is the new Meyler in that they play a similar, often unremarkable role, which means people will often complain they didn't 'notice' them playing and that therefore they were useless.
He really really fuxking isn’t
In that clip he does the classic I’ve lost my man so wave my arm to tell others they should be marking him
He reminds me of a Paul McKenna or Harper does **** all but does nothing wrong
The majority of his passes go back to the full back or seri
Very rarely faces forward and always cuts back
His pass stats must be insane

People never notice the "Water carriers" as Brian Clough used to call them. At the time he was responding to criticism of John Mcgovern at Forest.
changed the game when him and Tetteh came on imo, his skill and vision was there to see, was feeding longman quality balls.

Like what? Doc had a good game even though he’s technically-limited, Slater did nothing again. Didn’t break up play like Doc and Seri, didn’t link up play, didn’t do anything. He didn’t do the unfashionable stuff; he did nothing.
I must have missed it then, all I saw was him freezing in the spotlight and instead of taking shots when teed up, passing backwards.

Slater’s 23 now and has played as a defensive midfielder, a number 10, a box-to-box midfielder and even winger for us yet he’s never excelled in any of those positions. Jack of all trades, master of none. The comparisons to Meyler are ridiculous.
I don't agree with that.... he changed the pace of our attacks and offered a lot better ball distribution in their half.

Tufan completely changed the tempo of our midfield. We looked so much better when Tufan and Tetteh came on.
