Does seem to be a fair few of the injuries done in training. Seems every week in mowbrays press conference he's got a fresh injury to report. So frustrating, think where we'd be in the table with a fit squad all season.
Remember under Allardyce we hardly had any injuries, even injury prone players like Kirchoff were fit every week. Luck or training methods, who knows.
Teams like Boro, Burnley and Sheff united have practically had a fully fit squad all season. I was talking to my mate last night at work who's a big Boro fan and he said they've had no injury problems at all all season. Like I said previously Stewart, Ballard, Simms, Cirkin, Huggins, Pritch and Alese have missed more games than they have played.
Wonderful as always RTB. Thankyou. If there is such a thing as a bogey team, then Boro seem to have been to us in recent history. However I think we can put that to bed, and reverse their 1-0 over us, although with our tendency to concede , it will be win by 1, 3-2
Good points mate , astonishing if that's the reality, and I have no reason to doubt it is. In these days of stats on stats related to football , I never seen much about this topic. I remember Big Sam had some sort of bath that he used to keep the players fit and it certainly seemed to do the trick when he was here , although a few of the players like Kirchoff and Kaboul both injury prone elsewhere were never seen again after that, and I remember someone on here predicting it was unproven science long term As you say, it cant all be down to luck, but I hope we have it on our side tomorrow, we could do with it going our way for a change.
From what I remember with Sam they used them kryo chamber things and each player was monitored heavily via some sort of technology and had their training routine tailored as a result of any fatigue etc it picked up.
I'm hearing Ballard is an injury doubt tomorow. Not sure how true that is. It's crazy how all of our injuries hit a certain area all at once. From having no strikers a few months ago we now have no Leftbacks or CBs available.
Agree it’s can’t be down to just luck. Wonder if the data science boffins at the club compare our injury rates to other teams to see if any stand out as having a statistically significant lower injury rate than us? Needs proper analysis as you only remember when the toast lands butter side down. We seem to be heavily investing in the off field side and suspect any investment that gets an extra 10% playing time out a couple of first team player will pay for itself in no time.
If Ballard IS out (and Mowbray said one of them was a doubt but wouldn't say who, which I find a bizarre way to approach teh subject) then I wonder if going 3 at the back might be best? Patterson Wright Batth Hume Gooch Neil Evans Clarke Roberts Stewart Amad Unless he's playing the media like he did for the Birmingham game pre WC
I think they are better than us. They are on a bit of a role. I'm expecting defeat but I've been wrong loads of times. Hopefully I'm wrong again HTL BTW Minimum bother imo
Sunderland host north-east neighbours Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship and supporters are being advised to arrive early at the Stadium of Light. A large attendance is expected on Wearside as the Lads take on Michael Carrick's side in a 12pm kick-off on Sunday 22 January. Supporters are being advised to use public transport to make their way to the stadium with Metro and bus services in use and to avoid driving where possible due to limited parking around the vicinity of the stadium. If supporters choose to drive to the ground, the Club is also advising fans to allow extra time on their journey. Vaux Brewery Way will be closed to all traffic from 9.30am, this is to facilitate the away fans ingress system. Accordingly, there is no access from the north of the Stadium after this time. Turnstiles will open at 10:30am around the ground with supporters able to make their way inside from then. Tickets are still available for our clash with Middlesbrough. You can head over to the e-ticketing section of safc.com.
