if we can get our act together at home - we're still very much a work in progress - there's no reason why we can't emulate what west brom have been doing. you've only to go back to the end of october and they were struggling in the drop zone. they'd won 2 of 17 league games. then they won 10 of the next 11.which took them from 11 points to 41 points. today, with 20 minutes left against burnley, the were sitting in THIRD place. unfortunately for them burnley got two late goals (75 and 87 min), but they're in 6th and doing okay.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0dxv7dt I do enjoy listening to Liam. I actively avoided Grant and Shota interviews
It's a position we'll prioritise in the summer. Maybe someone will become available in the next fortnight but it's not a problem if not
Technically he is, not sure Liam thinks he's fit enough to play a deeper role from the start yet. I imagine he'll get his chance, but throwing him in against the best midfield in he league would've been a big ask.
Boring, heard this being spouted for far too long. Everyone excusing the fact the domestic lads are League One quality at best, i.e Slater, Docherty, Smith, Coyle, Jones, Longman etc.
its a myth though, when he and seri are playing the ball doesn’t get lose anywhere near as much. So they don’t have to chase, also he runs around all over and seems a physical presence. It’s almost insane he doesn’t start.
Think of the context of when you've seen those 2 paired together. It's when we've been chasing games, of course teams are going to sit off and they'll have more time to dictate play. I think our best XI involves some combination of those 2, but it's about finding the balance. When Rosenior came in he had to stop us shipping goals or we were heading down. He favoured Doc over someone like Tufan as he knew what he'll get, even if not as technically good.
If any side was going to catch us on the break it was them. But the 3 subs completely changed the flow of the game, and Tufan was excellent again. We were keeping holding of the ball better and having someone alongside Seri who can pass really helps. Now Seri's fitter, he's miles better defensively than people make out too
he knows what he gets and we drop points at home against far lesser opponents, the points salvaged in two of the games when Tufan came on. Play with some balls and pick wins up. He’s terrified to me and seems tactically inept apart from shoring things up a bit.
Hes better then the two peiple praise for it, they chase loads cause we cant hold on to the ball with them on…
Don’t understand the clamber for Tufan. He spends most of the game passing it backwards or losing it.
Seri has surprised me several times recently, either nipping in when looking second favourite or holding off someone twice the size of him. He's just an all round excellent player, who we're lucky to have. I think a Tufan and Seri pairing has potential and would like to see it explored. Now is the perfect time to experiment, as we're realistically not going down and not getting play offs. But away at the probably he best team in the league, whilst on a 7 game unbeaten away run isn't the best time to start tinkering
