It's Matchday! I'm up stupidly early, so I'll need a snoozefest of a match this afternoon. A hat-trick in a new record time, then lots of midfield non-action, with misplaced passes from both sides, should do it.
Hoping for a good game, heaps of energy and commitment again and a calamity free performance. Ive got everything crossed that Alcaraz gets a good performance under his belt, that midfield, man, I hope he is the answer I'd be surprised if we don't see Orisc starting too.
It was great to get the 3 points against Everton but I didn't think we played particularly well. I think the nature of the game being a high pressure relegation fight it was always likely to be scrappy. Whereas today, at home, I am hoping for a more similar performance to that against City. High press, energy and aggression. If we play like that I think we get at least a draw, which would help keep momentum rolling.
Going to be a tough game with Villa having only lost 1 of their last 6, with 4 wins. Emery says his team are defending well but not scoring enough. Hoping that they forget how to defend today. Jones has said that Orsic and Alcaraz are ready to start games, so maybe today will be the day.
If Southampton won today then they would be out of the relegation zone tonight. I would be happy with at least a point today .
Please please me no nail bitingly close game. This old heart of mine doesn't need it, something tells me we're in for something good!
So I've decided that clearly wearing my favourite 03-04 away shirt has been unlucky. Haven't won a league game whilst I've been rocking it. With that in mind we've all changed our normal shirts into a different one from a range of seasons I'm the hope this will break our duck. Mini Saint and Wonky Saint in the car and we're on our way. COYR.
Hopefully my usual match day thread magic will have us far enough ahead that by the time you land it'll be beyond Villa to save the game. Vin
