“This is a no-brainer” - Sunderland eyeing Brighton transfer agreement: The verdict | Football League World Seem like reasonable conclusions but anything to indicate Brighton will want the same salary split as Leeds did?
Not really, just an assumption based on how economical Brighton's transfer model is - you'd imagine they'll seek a sensible deal for themselves financially. Even the 45% contribution quoted for Gelhardt seemed reasonable if that's true, but evidently we still can't (or won't) compete at that level. Undav's not short of suitors either as per your linked article, so we would likely be priced out anyway. Certainly a player I'd love to see us to sign though, so I'll remain hopeful!
We have no idea if we were even in for Gelhardt, like most things at the club they are kept quiet until they have signed. It's all speculation and guesswork
Undav has scored goals everywhere he’s been, Geldhart has scored 2 or 3 in about 4 years. As much as I think he’ll be a player in the future, Undav would be much the better option IMO but I can’t see Brighton sending him here to play off the bench. He’ll go somewhere that use him as their first choice striker.
Obviously, but he's been heavily linked by several outlets that some people here deem credible and I think it would defeat the purpose of this thread without a reasonable amount of speculation added.
That's a dream list rather than anything we can realistically expect in my opinion. That's probably as big an outlay as was made in the summer and I can't see that being possible without someone of value leaving. Undav seems unrealistic on the face of it, though it would be a superb signing.
Nemeth was seen in Cleadon, Lihadji and Ekwah both in advanced stages and have been to the AoL, as per reports. Simms has been here already, Undav heavily linked, Wright linked with a departure, and we've been after Cresswell before and he is now available. I don't think it's unrealistic.
I don't go there now, but that must be deeply unsatisfying. It is impossible to argue about anything on these things. Everyone can go off and find a quote, or a story or when it's about football transfers, a " mates uncle's" news. It's like trying to argue over the phone. Impossible!
Yes but some people go on like he chose Wigan over us, and we have no idea if we were even in for him. We get linked to many players in various media outlets doesn't mean it's all true
If you believe reports and links though, Genk have decided they don't want to let Nemeth go until the end of the season and we're also after Gelhardt, Giay, Dack, Bellingham, Key, Porteous and Green. "Advanced stages" isn't factual, it's speculation. It's a significant outlay of cash which would seem strange to me for a club attempting to be sustainable and appearing to be safe in the league.
