Good work, I was wondering what the eff was going on. It's one thing hoovering up talent on mortgage deals, it's another actually playing them in a 25 man squad. Plus there are registration minimums that need to be met.

Then again, I wouldn't be interested in having Auba, Ziyech, RLC. Sterling or Mount anywhere near a Newcastle squad. Then factor in Broja's out for the season, Pulisic rarely fit and Felix only temporary. Gallagher I think would be the only decent signing and we may be interested, but I don't think his attitude is great?

Gallagher is the one I would at least consider. But then, why do a deal that helps Chelsea's situation? Let them sort out their own oversized squad and the internal turmoil that might cause for the club when some of them are not registered to play.

Exactly, I'd be waiting for them to come begging. I hope everyone follows suit. Would love nothing more than them to be dealing with stack of really pissed off footballers.

Outgoing transfers and loans from Chelsea on deadline day will be mad this time around.

Hopefully other Clubs will look at the bigger picture and go ‘nah, we’ll just let Chelsea implode and go bust’.

The one thing about all this I really can’t abide is the media not decrying it: instead they seem to go out of their way to explain FFP and how Chelsea are within the rules. It’s apologist and it’s ****ing pathetic. We’ve been accused of buying out way to 3rd, yet they’re completely above any reproach or criticism for a reckless and erratic approach.

Honestly the media are just dreadful.

Being honest, the media haven't accused us of buying our way to anything, broadly speaking. I actually think in the main, the media have been pretty good for us, once you looked past the initial outrage of Saudi. Opposition dimwit fans have accused us of buying success, as they don't understand FFP.

I've a reasonable grasp on it, but was struggling to understand how Chelsea were doing it before reading the Swiss Ramble report.

I don't know what you expect them to say about Chelsea? They're reporting on how they are able to do it, while highlighting that it's a risky approach. If it all goes tits up, they should be sanctioned... however, it seems if you have loads of cash, you're allowed a bit more wiggle than if you're part broke, and even when the sanctions come, they're hardly worth bothering with (financially).

I REALLY want us to to it the right way (which we are widely credited for) and be able to stick it up the ****ers when we're laden with silverware.

Chelsea are just one of the clubs newcastle will eventually be competing with and we won't complain when it's us doing similar things.

We've got plenty of clubs to squash along the way .. some with rich history, so let's just enjoy the beginning of our tyrannical reign.

IF we had spent in the manner that Chelsea is currently doing, can you imagine the significant outcry from the other 19 clubs would've done?

But because they're one of the 'big six', nobody gives a **** it seems.

Newcastle fans need to stop worrying about what other people think... it's something we've got to embrace rather than react to.

They don't like us or the reality that a club they don't like is going to ruin the rest of their lives.

The fox is now amongst the chickens

    Happy days

They are not doing anything wrong. My understanding is that they are giving very long contracts (~8yrs) so they divide the transfer fee over that period. If we bought the same player and put him on a 4yr contract then we would be talking double the hit on our yearly P/L. Its quite clever as an instant way to beat FFP. Where it could fall down is:
    1) if they miss out on Champions League and the revenue from that
    2) if the players doesn’t do well and they want to sell him after a couple of years as they would have to recoup 75% of his original cost to break even

Either Chelsea are being very brave or very stupid.
Have their new owners much experience in top level football?
