Fulham have won 4 on the trot and are flying at the moment, credit to them. I can't see us getting anything there, nor can I see Leicester getting anything from Brighton, so by this time next week I've a feeling we'll be 7th.
The idea that Partey wins the Premier league is as vile to me as Arsenal acting like nothing happened. The goons winning the title will teach Levy nothing. Until he accepts that he has to decide what kind of club he wants us to be and acts accordingly then we will continue. It is not a surprise that our longest managers (Jol 3 yrs, Redknapp 3 yrs 8 months, and Pochettino 5 and a half years) took us further forward as a club. We need to decide if we want to give youth a chance and blend it with experience or if we want to buy expensive ready made players. Once we decide that, get a manager that fits that style and then back them properly.
Is conte’s vision buy a load of ready made players in their late 20s to mid 30s on massive money then leave after a few seasons leaving an overpaid and old squad? Honestly can’t see what is keeping him staying with us? He’s got nothing to gain by seeing the season out as nothings going to change, will be the same 3-4-3 that hasn’t worked against any of the teams above us, we’ll finish 5th or 6th and not win anything.
I appreciate the sentiment, and definitely didn’t expect you to say this but I recognise where you’re coming from. However, when I look at City’s bench and look at ours, I still think we are going to fall short at the business end. If we’re being honest, Partey shouldn’t be on the field and should be locked up. But if we’re basing things purely on footballing ability, he is exceptional. And, rightly or wrongly, we are one injury away from Elneny or Lokonga starting. The former of whom is good for squad morale and can do a job against lower league opposition, the latter clearly isn’t trusted by Arteta and has been below par. City had Bernardo Silva, de Bruyne, Dias, Foden, Walker, Cancelo, Laporte, Phillips on their bench… And whilst the signing of Trossard is a step in the right direction (in terms of quality and depth), there is still a long way to go. The rest of our bench is not close to their level. From February onwards, games are going to come thick and fast, moreso depending on how we progress in Europe. I have a niggling feeling we will tail off. I would love us to win the league, but my head says City are going to turn up when it matters and do what they always do. And it shouldn’t surprise anyone if they do. An entire country bankrolling you certainly has its perks…
Has the glimmer of hope gone from watching Lesta win it? we looking for another glimmer of hope? even if it’s them Goon ****s wow no thanks c’mon City
Just wait til you realise Brighton and Liverpool can go ahead of us too if they win their games in hand. Let the good times roll
Those three managers, the good ol’ days! ‘Arry on an interim deal til the end of the season would be quite lovely right about now as it goes. His arm round the shoulder approach and gung-ho attacking way of playing would suit a lot of our players to a tee at the moment, plus Defoe’s at the club so he’d come out of retirement to play! .
So for gifting Citeh the 3 pts, they reciprocated by gifting Spurs 2 goals to keep the final scoreline respectable. Not so bad, all things considered.
Yes, if you have a DOF who allows it. Which begs the question : is not incumbent on players to have a core technical ability to play in a number of formations/systems ?? If you think of most professions that have large teams involved in the daily process, a small % of those are specialists by skills where the rest are "generalists" . "Honestly can’t see what is keeping him staying with us? He’s got nothing to gain by seeing the season out as nothings going to change, will be the same 3-4-3 that hasn’t worked against any of the teams above us, we’ll finish 5th or 6th and not win anything." Dogma is one thing. Dogma in the hands of someone willing to "cut off their nose to spite their face" , is something Spurs can ill afford.
