    It’s on ITV4 isn’t it?
But the answer is simple - viewing figures. Utd games tend to get higher figures.
ITV is a commercial broadcaster; it’s interested only in its viewing figures. Which is why it will show any old guff masquerading as entertainment. At least it isn’t Masked Singer or Love Island.

The fact it is being hidden away on ITV4 almost makes the decision worse - but I did address the commercial reasons in replying to PNP above.

Definitely can't show our game, then. No entertainment to be had, unfortunately.

One of my gripes with ITV coverage, is that in the intros they show loads of grassroots stuff. Great stuff until the programme starts when they forget the minnows and are live from an all premier league clash. Their hypocrisy is outrageous.

This post has just come up in Facebook memories - 10 years ago today I posted

'Have just seen that on Saturday 26th January ESPN are televising the FA Cup tie involving Manchester United, after the garbage served up last night you would that thought they might have looked for a decent tie, unbelievably this is the 37th successive FA cup tie featuring Man U to be shown live on TV, there are so many better ties that could have been shown.'

    I guess somethings don't change

Just a question why is Bruno Fernandez always referred to with both his names and not just Fernandez?

Just going completely away from footie as I like to do from time to time (er... often). Anyway just wanted to state one of the most obvious things anyone has ever said, but IMHO it is worth mentioning from time to time...

You can't believe everything you read on the internet

I know, shocking, eh? It's just I've come across a few examples recently of things I knew were wrong, but were presented in such as way so that people would think otherwise unless they knew. Which leads me to believe how many things have I "learned" from the internet that were also wrong but I didn't have the wit to realise?

    Anyway, consider these examples.

Firstly something that appears completely genuine, and is probably reported in good faith, but is completely wrong. I was googling the distance between Dover and Calais for reasons not relevant here, but I came across this "information" on a website called "Distancefromto" net, so you would think they would be accurate and have no reason to mislead.
    https://www.distancefromto.net/between/Calais/Dover, UK - Calais, FR
Basically it says it is about 9 miles between Dover and Calais.

Secondly (and thirdly) are instances of Google (I think) answering the question it thinks I am asking rather than the one I actually am. Having come across this in the past week I guess this is a standard thing.
    > I wanted to know what the mountains between Spain and Portugal were called. I phrased the question different ways because I kept on getting the answer The Pyrenees. Now it never directly said they were between Spain and Portugal, but it did seem to think that I actually wanted to know the mountains between Spain and France so kept on giving me that answer. And if you didn't read the answers carefully however, you might get the wrong answer. Not that many people want to know the answer to the question I was answering, but if you did...
    > I wanted to know when decimal coins were first used in the UK. I knew it was before decimal currency became legal tender, but again despite phrasing the question differently I kept on being told February 1971. I did eventually find the answer way down on one of the links which is what I was looking for (10p and 5p coins were first circulated in 1968). But again I was given the answer to the less likely question, but the question (I think) I was actually asking was answered wrongly.

Maybe this is just grumpy older guy picking up on unimportant stuff, but perhaps this idea of the internet not giving the right answers is more common than I thought.

Portuguese people tend to have ridiculously long names as they include the paternal and maternal family names, in this case Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes

Why bring this part up? Because with common names like Mendes, Costa, Silva, Gomes, Sanches, Fernandes, Alves etc Portuguese players tend to use the long form of their name to avoid a team containing three or four Gomeses, although this sometimes looks confusing as they're using the second and fourth name, for example our former managers Luis Andre de Pinha Cabral e Villa-Boas or Jose Mario dos Santo Mourinho Felix

    From Telegraph

Former Tottenham footballer Anton Walkes killed in Miami boat crash, RIP

Charlotte FC's Anton Walkes, a former academy player with Tottenham Hotspur, had been left in a critical condition after two boats crashed near Miami Marine Stadium.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said on Wednesday that he was found unconscious and received CPR from Miami Fire Rescue.

However, his club has now announced in social media messages that the 25-year-old from Lewisham, south London, has died.

Charlotte's sporting director Zoran Krneta said in a statement: "We are heartbroken from the loss of Anton Walkes, a truly incredible father, loving person, and outstanding human being. Anton embodied what it means to be a part of Charlotte Football Club and our entire community is grieving over this tragedy.
