Someone (on here I think) said recently that Ings's best period with us was playing in a two. If we're favouring 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 with JWP behind the striker, maybe the club don't think Ings can play that lone role. I think he'd be a lone striker for WH? As Schad says, it only takes another injury and that's a lot of money wasted.
There is going to be a massive meltdown (scale varying depending on which website / social media outlet) if Ings moves to a club that isn't us (especially a relegation rival). And then that will be exponentially amplified if we don't sign a central striker ourselves.
I am sure someone mentioned something about Villa fans saying he wasn't best suited for and/or didn't like playing in a sole striker system like at Villa. That will absolutely be how he plays at West Ham. And quite likely here West Ham also have a knack for ruining strikers. Their all time top scorer is a winger who they turned into a striker. Who was the last natural central striker that really thrived for them? How far back do you have to go? I expect back to the time before sole striker formations became popular?
Then he should have held out for Man United or Spurs as the back up striker. Even if it meant running down the contract with us. But the rumours are when the much larger than expected bid came in from Villa we kind of nudged him to accept
Isn't he another left winger? So if this was as well as Jackson it would be excessive. Arguably is anyway
In what way are their chances significantly worse than ours? They have the same points but might well spend their way out?
He did do a message to the fans so not sure why you're flabbergasted about something that's not true. Not sure I understand the CL point either?
Far better squad, as evidenced by them qualifying for Europe in the past two semis (and making the EL semis last season).
Agree with that. Just thought that for a Netley lad his exit was pretty poor. He was treated like a god whilst he was he and his very short parting message was effectively “I hope you got your moneys worth” I’ve just never liked him since but I get everyone’s points on this. He is a very good footballer. I just wouldn’t want to go back.
It's pretty irrelevant he's from the area TBH. Saints released him as a youngster - he owed the club nothing. He did a great job while he was here - that's all that counts in my book.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/talksp...eo-lavia-man-city-enzo-fernandez-benfica/amp/ This could get messy - especially with buy back clauses etc meaning we are not totally in control of what happens with Lavia. Praying we can keep hold of him, at least until the summer. And if we sell him to Chelsea then let's try to get Ampadu / Broja type in as part of it. But we need to stay in the Premier league. I've woken up all pessimistic
If we sign a 30 year old injury-prone striker like Ings I'll show my arse over the John Lewis perfume counter. It's so clearly not the way SR runs the club. Vin
Keep your trousers up, he has just signed for West Ham for £15m. As much as I wanted him back, I think a permanent deal is too risky, especially as he is on £100k+
