I see the club has already started to try and paint Conte as the bad guy through media channels, drip feeding snippets of information to make it look like Conte is the problem and subsequently deflecting the heat away from the real problem, Levy. It looks like the beginning of the end and yet another ridiculous calamity from our hapless owners, along with Kane almost certainly leaving this summer, the future looks very grim, and all thanks to the clowns at the very top.
I cannot see Conte being here next season. I don't see any prospect of the next manager surviving any longer, or doing any better than the last 3 have. We'll overpay someone to fiddle about for a bit and then pay them to leave when the 'Levy Out!' chants reach the required decibel level. The pattern is set until the club actually implements real change...and that will need to include Daniel Levy's departure. If he was just an employee, rather than a significant shareholder, he would had would been sacked for the Mourinho/Nuno debacle...before we made the same mistake again, by appointing Conte.
We're getting another round of "ENIC don't back managers!" from the usual suspects...hilariously including Conte and Villas-Boas in their list, as if we didn't spend heartily with them at the helm
Tuchel supposedly wants the job should Conte go according to a couple journos. Ex-Chelsea Manager FC, baby! Although I do believe Tuchel is a Spurs fan/ admired Spurs as a young lad.
Conte and Paratichi watch is the name of this thread. That's an occupation that's almost pointless without adding to it the THFC Board. There are so many opinions flying around about Spurs, especially following our defeat in the NLD, and almost no real information. In Conte's latest press conference he complains that in England only the coach speaks to the media, whereas in Italy the 'club' speaks as well. I take that as an admission from Conte that there is another story about Spurs that we are not getting and that story must come from Paratichi and Levy or someone from the board of THFC. Reading between those lines, as we are forced to do if we are interested, it suggests that Conte feels that his current difficult situation is not all within his control. Listening to him now is reminiscent of Pochettino when he was describing how the squad needed rebuilding but he was only the coach, or how Redknapp made it clear that he did not negotiate for players he was only the coach. This transfer window I think will tell us if THFC are backing Conte or if their eyes are already turning elsewhere. It looks to me that if they don't back Conte then this board has failed once again to have thought through who they are employing as coach. Conte is a world class coach with, as every coach has nowadays, his own blueprint of how to play football. A blueprint that has brought him enormous success and one he is not going to change to suit the board of THFC. So it comes down to SPURS! either back Conte or once again move on to yet another manager. I think ENIC's time of repeating this practice over and over is fast running out, the only light at the end of this particular tunnel is that they are looking for another investor which suggests that they realise they need more money if Spurs are really to survive as a top six club.
I have been wondering if there is something bubbling behind the scenes, perhaps these thoughts were sparked by the rumours of QSI considering a minority investment. With that said the lack of rumour coming out of THFC right now perhaps makes more sense. As to Paratici’s visibility, he usually does a video interview after every transfer window. Sure, maybe it would be interesting to hear more, maybe he does the occasional press conference with Conte or something. Or maybe he should be part of the group that meets with THST periodically. The interesting one would be the medical team but I can’t see how this would lead to anything other than more misinformed speculation about the medical status of players, and in terms of actual insight, the medical staff have a duty to protect the privacy of players to an extent anyway. So I’m not sure how much we would get out of it. I think that came out from Conte more out of frustration that he’s still missing key players than anything else. But yes, I do agree that there may well be something going on behind the scenes at the club and that they don’t want to show hand during the window for obvious strategic/financial reasons.
Backing the manager is not a one off event it's a continuing process. Not all the signings are a success, they never are, so defensive and midfield signings as well as a goalkeeper are needed. I haven't heard Conte blame anyone in particular I just heard him say that the job is not finished and will take more time.
The worst possible way is to lose faith in the manager in the middle of the season. In the middle of the transfer window and to start thinking about another direction. That's what Spurs do often and it clearly does not work.
A while back, I committed to Conte being able to see out the rest of the season, irrespective of results and where we finish. It's not because I'm enjoying the current regime's football (it's ineffective and terrible) but because I see no point whatsoever in sacking another manager mid-season and getting in someone else, to repeat the same mistakes. Repeating the same actions and getting the same mediocre results is not good management. It's lunacy and it needs to STOP. If anyone with power at the club has any determination to improve sporting results....now is the time to implement change. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem and it's time for you to leave.
Not backed enough…it’s a lazy claim buy a few players ‘he’s been backed’ Has he managed to convince Sporting to accept a packet of Wotsits yet for Porro?
True he also said others at the club should front up he’s right everyone hides behind the manager Even the fans who were quiet as **** at home during the NLD on the whole..they can’t even do that right and be a 12th man I reckon about 100 Palace fans make more noise than 60k Spurs fans
I have lost 7 close friends over the years which is why I retired at 59. Conte has sufficient wealth to make almost any decision he likes and it's not surprising he should be questioning his direction and work life balance.
