Its a real surprise that you put someone in that DM position that can run about and cover the ground and suddenly the rest of the team feels more confident about pressing and the defence look more self assured. I think the biggest problem this season has been the drop off in Fabinho and that we never really bought anyone who would challenge him.
Not only that but in possession not just relying on thiago to be the one to break the lines. All 3 midfielders today have played progressive passing and passed to each other going forward rather than safe option back or out wide to full back.
Wolves player stops an actual counter with a clear foul and obviously yellow… somehow that a travesty cos none of our jiggly tactical fouls were given as yellows.
Similar to the 2021 season when we kept picking midfielders in defence. Then when we started picking actual defenders despite lack of experience. We improved and started winning games again.
Ht Kelleher, nothing to do Milner doing fine. Not under any pressure due to others performing Konate. Nothing to do. Got a few headers Gomez is riding jiminez. Right up his bumper every time. Great defending so far Tsimikas. Doing OK, few bad errors by turning onto bad foot. Bajcetic. Really good positional, good energy. Few errors. Thiago. Having a field day Keita, good sharp, in right places doing well. Elliott very good half, spotted keeper and hit it but working very well Gakpo, never a 9. Calm down. Carvalho. Doing OK, some 3nergy, good positioning overall as well. A few silly moments in our half.. Far better display than home game, more energy and showing up wolves frailties. More in keeping with "a klopp side" The only problem is I'm waiting for the inevitable brain fart and equaliser. We need to be ready for second half as this lot will be sent out to hit us hard
Well we haven’t created loads. But far more enjoyable watch. Would love to see the running stats as a comparison in this game to others. Elliott Keita Bajcetic been very good so far. Defence looked good. Milner closing down from RB as well
Just shows what we can do with younger legs in midfield. The 4 midfielders are all playing well. Gakpo still looks a bit lost with the speed of the game and is no centre forward, he could be replaced by Salah 2nd half. Milner is showing how to defend and is not wandering off upfield all the time like TAA. Maybe we should play Milner or Ramsey as RB and TAA in front of them in midfield. Very impressed with the first half just have to keep it up for the 2nd half
It’s refreshing isn’t it, sick of how courteous we are at just letting the opposition cruise through - have to wake up and disrupt the play more often like we have done. Forgotten what an effective press looked like too
