Good Morning. It's Tuesday 17th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Marsch could be gone by Sunday

Leeds have temporarily put negotiations for Morroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi on hold, as Messrs Radrizzani, Orta and Kinnear discuss Jesse Marsch's future. Recent results have not been good enough, and when the Elland Road faithful turn on one of their own, you just know their days are numbered.

Six weeks from his first year anniversary, time is running out for the Leeds gaffer. According to the Daily Mail, Marsch needs to get results tomorrow night against Cardiff, and on Sunday when they host Brentford.

49ers takeover will be completed by the Summer at the latest

49ers Enterprises will complete the takeover of Leeds Utd by the Summer, at the latest, according to football journalist David Ornstein. The former BBC sports correspondent was discussing the financial aspects of the Georginio Rutter deal, and who would pick up the tab.

He suggested that the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, led by the York family are set to bring forward, and complete the takeover ,either following the conclusion of the 22/23 season, or when Leeds are safe from relegation.

"Discussions over the cost of Rutter were unexpectedly complex, running over several days last week. Hoffenheim held out for a high price but the proposed deal also led to discussions about how the move would be funded at Elland Road — and, at shareholder level, who would pick up the bill."

"An option to acquire Leeds from Radrizzani, as revealed by The Athletic, runs to January 2024 but 49ers Enterprises is increasingly minded to push through its takeover before that date. Talks about the proposed transition have been intense recently and figures involved in the deal expect a sale to go through by the summer at the latest."

"The proactive role of 49ers Enterprises in supporting the bid for Rutter and agreeing to meet future payments for him is another firm indication of a change of ownership coming. Leeds, like most clubs, structure payments to run over a new signing’s contract — Rutter’s runs to 2028 — and it looks likely that the responsibility of meeting many of those instalments will fall to 49ers Enterprises."

U21's knocked off top spot after Baggies defeat

Michael Skubala's under 21's slipped to their second consecutive loss of the season, after conceding a late goal at the hands of West Brom, at York City's LNER Community Stadium last night. It was a bad night for the Whites who dominated for large periods of the game, but couldn't find the back of the net. They fell behind to a 72nd minute penalty, which saw Kris Moore sent for an early bath. Klaesson's first duty of the night was to pick the ball out of his net, as the Baggies tucked away the spot kick.

Even with 10 men, Leeds continued to push, and soon levelled, thanks to a superb Gyabi effort which almost broke the netting. Skubala's side smelt blood, and went in search of a winner, but were caught out on the counter attack in injury time.

Cody Drameh, Sonny Perkins, Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph all played last night, giving an indication their participation on Wednesday may be minimal. For the first time this season, Leeds have dropped to second in the table, but only by goal difference, in favour of Southampton. Only the Champions are promoted back to the Premier League 2 division 1. The second, third, fourth and fifth ranked teams go into a play off.

Joffy off to Ewood Park after Cup game

Tomorrow night's Cup replay is expected to be Joe Gelhardt's last game for Leeds this season, with Ewood Park being his probable destination. The 20yo has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road, but it is hoped that regular first team football will help him rediscover his goal scoring touch.

Joffy has been a spare part for the last couple of seasons, and his form and confidence has taken a dip because of it. That's not to say that the 20yo isn't highly regarded. A host of Championship clubs including Swansea, Millwall, Wigan and Sunderland have all been scrambling for his services for the second half of their campaigns, but it seems Blackburn have won the race.

Joffy gets less time than it takes to boil an egg on most occasions, he will hopefully get his confidence and goals flowing at the 'burn there's a player in there somewhere and I for one hope he is back at ER with a new Renaissance

    Morning all

I'm one of Marsch's ardent supporters but he is skating on thin ice with me. honestly, I think it's stupid sacking him during the Window as it is clear he's had input on signings saying that if it's still going tits up by mid-February then yeah he needs to leave.

I thought Ounehi was basically all but done however those reports and Tweets I can read (Cos there not in french) says otherwise there's a lot of conflicting information. I'm surprised it's on hold as this is who Radz wants in the club.

Regarding the takeover, there's something going on in the background. I've always made my feeling clear about American owners and I'll repeat it... I don't like it. They don't care about the club and it's all about what they can get out of it. Look at Lerner and Villa. He got bored and didn't invest in the club in the last few years making Lambert's job impossible. Chelsea are going backward under Boehy. The less said about the Glazer's tenure at Old Trafford the better. Interestingly Ger Lynch pointed out the York family are believed to be worth $8 billion compared to The Crown Prince Of Jordan who is supposedly looking to buy the club who is worth around £700 million.

Joffy goes to Blackburn then great. I've been wondering if he's as good as we have all thought he was in the last couple of years. Marsch is the 2nd manager who had him as a bench player and Bielsa would have rather had James up front and he's a winger.

Morning all. Before reading the morning thread I was just thinking to myself that Sunday could be end of the road for Marsch. Are we better off losing next two games and ensuring he gets the door. I really don't know

I think he has to win the next 3 games or the crowd will turn big time. He's always been on a bit of a hiding to nothing from day 1,it didn't take much for some to turn on him. Now most fence sitters and one's who were more than happy to give him time are turning against him too.

There as to be something in regard the takeover, as we're spending money we not supposed to have.

Joffy really needs to go out on loan but we have to send him somewhere, where he's pretty much guaranteed game time.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Pointless sacking Marsch this week because the die has been cast, as he has 2 new players to bed in. We need to see the new players integrated and to see if he can get some results going. This is a results business and so far he has failed, although their are flickers of improvement.

The next 3 are must win games. Cardiff, Brentford and Forest anything less is curtains

think you're spot on there Gessa.

interesting that they're suggesting ounahi is on hold while they consider marsch's future. Hard to see why it would influence matters. If my memory serves me correctly... Radz texted Orta about Ounahi during the world cup - so this might be a signing driven by El Presidente. Bit like when Cellino picked a few players he liked from the italian 2nd/3rd division and then sent everyone swimming in a river. Next step was him coming into the dressing room at half time to make substituions. I'm sure there are those that think he'd do a better job at it than Jesse.

On Ounahi, he looked really good in the world cup... however, countless transfer mistakes have been made on the basis of a good world cup/euros, so i hope we've done our due dilligence on his league performances over a period of time - and his suitability for the rigours of the premier league. Subject to that, it would be a really exciting signing in principle if we got him.

I'm sure they've been discussing their options behind the scenes... we're into a run of 'winnable' matches - if there is such a thing for us as Jesse said... and its definitely make or break time for him. We need to win the cup game - then i think a win and a draw minimum to keep the wolves (and southamptons) at bay for a while.

Twitter alive with Ounahi, wants to stay where he is until the summer and favours a move to Italy. No idea if that's the reason it's stalled or just the twitter rumour mill.

I don't think there is any room for error in the next 3 games - we have to win them to allow for an unfavourable result against Manure. The two games after that are winnable so if we get a decent run going things will look so much better....if we don't then we are doomed I tell ye.......doomed!!!!

Who knows… that could be last week’s story re-circulating. He actually made a statement a couple of days ago, saying it wasn’t true he had a preference for one league over another - it would come down to the project. Doesn’t mean that’s true of course.

With tegard to the high flying U21s who have had the wind taken out of their sales losing the last 2. I fear we have an underlying issue at TA and not sure what it is but some of the recent developments that may have something to do with it. Remember we were unbeaten and top scorers in the league and we’ll clear at the top up the World Cup break
    • Jacko leaving the club
    • Academy coach leaves to join Sunderland
    • New 1st team coach still not been appointed even though it was going to be announced two weeks ago.
    • Adam Underwood Academy Doirector been in the media constantly for a week now
    • Another academy coach joins Sunderland
    • Drameh, Hjelde, Dean, McCalmont, Gelhardt rumblings?

could be fella. Lots of changes clearly.

Re the result last night - didn’t see the game but sounded like it was one way traffic and we couldn’t score… then give away a penalty and get a guy sent off. One of those things? Earlier in the season the breaks went our way. At the boro Leeds u21 game I went to, we were poor for much of it and trailing then scored 4. Thems the breaks.

Something Skibby said after the game got me thinking…. He said all the clubs we are now facing are using 21yo and over with very few kids. He said we were basically playing prem first team squad/reserves. Ok I can get that because we use 16,17,18yo in the main and only Alfie was over 21… and yes a lot of bus parking going on so maybe nothing in it
