The two sides fought out a 2-2 draw at Cardiff just over a week ago, and are set to wage battle once more. There's little love lost between the two sides, yet Wednesdays encounter could be the feistiest yet. Cardiff sacked their Manager Mark Hudson after their 1-1 draw against bottom club Wigan Athletic at the weekend, and are rumoured to be bringing 74yo Neil Warnock out of retirement for one last hurrah. The winners of the tie are set to face either Accrington Stanley or Boreham Wood. A potential Cup run would certainly lift the spirits of both sets of fans (especially the grumpy Leeds ones). With the U21's losing their second consecutive game in a row on Monday evening, Jesse Marsch must decide whether to call upon the likes of Cody Drameh, Sonny Perkins, Darko Gyabi and Mateo Joseph. The quartet all started in the 2-1 loss against West Brom at York City's LNER Community Stadium. Leeds also had Kris Moore sent off. Archie Gray, Stuart Dallas, Luis Sinisterra, Crysencio Summerville and Adam Forshaw all remain long term absentees, which new signing Georginio Rutter is unavailable. Joel Robles, Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober, Joe Gelhardt, Patrick Bamford, Sam Greenwood and Jack Harrison are all expected to be given game time. This is likely to be Gelhardt's last game for Leeds before joining either Swansea, Blackburn Rovers or Sunderland on loan for the rest of the season. Joel Bagan returns for Cardiff City after serving his one match suspension after getting sent off in the reverse fixture. Mahlon Romeo (hamstring) and Jamilu Collins (ACL) remain sidelined for the Bluebirds.
Let's go full strength and take it seriously, beat Brentford, then do the same in the fourth round. Winning breeds confidence.
I think we’ll win this one, simply because we can’t play as bad as we did in the first game and Cardiff were very poor
Put a strong team out but rest Gnonto as we can’t afford to have both him and Summerville out for the league games. Same with Adams, he’s by far our best midfield player. If we still can’t win this game with what’s left then that’s a worry. Clean sheet would be a welcome change.
Drameh, Gyabi and Joseph played 90 mins last night so not expecting them in the squad. Bamford should start to get some match fitness I hope with Rodrigo waiting to take over if he fails or cannot manage the whole game. Firpo and Wober on the left of defence…
Yep. There are signs that Harrison is returning to some kind of form. Play him. I'd play Greenwood too.
Unfortunately, I’m not confident of us winning any match at the moment. What is young Archie’s injury? Is it still from the preseason tour?
sinnistera close to making the squad says the big jesse but cooper doubtful.if he plays pascal at left centre back he needs sacking after the game.
**** me, if Struijk starts even I will call for Marsch to go. The **** has given away 4 goals in 3 games with his dithering. I never thought I'd see the day when I say this but given Struijks form and Coopers injury I'd even play Wober at left centre back and Firpo at left back. please log in to view this image
