Lancashire live reporting, Gelhardt will start Wednesday, then will go on loan to Blackburn by the weekend.
I wondered the same thing but perhaps with all the other stuff going on, on and off the field, they are struggling to find anyone to replace him. Or at least anyone that wants the job. Quite possibly a few players put in transfer requests this morning
Not sure what gets fellow forumites excited these days but you’d have thought smashing our incoming transfer record on a hot young prospect would have been one of them. #silenceisdeafening #totallyunderwhelmed Top top signing for me and proves we have learned from last season. Also it would seem we’ve now sorted all our attacking players for the next couple of seasons. In theory then we can now shift our attention to adding that extra bit of quality to the defence and midfield which can only be good.
Great signing imo and I reckon the final piece in the attacking jigsaw. So much young outstanding talent now in the forward positions at Leeds United. Nice to see the club showing ambition. Maybe the silence stems from there being not too much to moan about on the transfer front. Or maybe they’re too busy sharpening their knives for when Rutter fails to score a hat trick in his first appearance
Think it'll be easier working ourselves up into a frenzy when we're safely past the 38 point mark and safe. Once the spectre of relegation is hanging about for some, the transfers only feel like loans as they would be moved on if the worst came to the worst. Three nice wins in a row will change the mood
just for context, although the defending was poor- The xg for Bailey’s goal is .1 In other words if he gets that shot 10 times he scores once. For their second, Meslier should have pushed the initial shot away, and they score a free header. They had 1 other good chance for ings. All their others were half chances at best. From reading the comments you’d think we were butchered regularly on the break. All sides are vulnerable on the break. Our poor defending exaggerates it but even so villa created fck all really, despite their apparent number of shots. So whilst I don’t disagree that we’re too easy to score against in general, the Villa result was a travesty.
I’m really excited about him.. Looks a real talent. I hope people don’t get on his back if he doesn’t hit the ground running - because most don’t… and he’s only 20. We’ve lucked out with Willy… and even he had a few months to settle in the 21s to find his feet. I think we have a real mix of talent with slightly different attributes now.. but a common theme to our attacking signings is ball carrying ability. I don’t think it’s coincidence that sinisterra, gnonto, rutter are all guys that can advance the ball down the pitch with the ball at their feet. It’s all about fast breaks… can see why they like ounahi too.
I'm hoping and praying that Wober is a success here. That would go a long way to resolving some of the issues at the back. I've not seen enough of him yet although I'm a sucker for a long throw. As for Rutter, I know nothing about him other than a 5 minute YouTube montage. Love the fact we've gone for it. I'm a bit nervous though as it's alot of money for a lad in a position where we look OK at the moment. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do and if he's better than the rest of our attackers then he will be some player. Pace is the big difference at this level and this guy looks rapid. Gnonto, Summerville, Sinisterra and Rutter as options behind or on the wings supporting Rodrigo really has me looking forward to seeing what the future holds.
Afternoon all. Same as Emu I'm looking forward to Wober in the team. He seems like someone who will be vocal which is the problem we have with Koch, Llorente and Struijk. They're all followers, not leaders. I think his long throw is going to get us loads of chances especially since our corners and free kicks are usually ****.
My concern with wober, is although he’s played full back this year, he’s a career centre back. I’ve no doubt his flexibility was a factor in signing him, but I’d have more confidence knowing he was signed as cb, rather than the answer to our left back problems. Austrian journos have commented on his lack of pace… I fear in our system he may get exposed like struijk has. But hey, let’s give the guy a chance and see.
The Austrian journos probably haven't seen Koch, Cooper and Struijk trying to run back. Wober will be like Usain Bolt compared to those lads. As long as he is aggressive and happy to defend 1v1 he will improve us. If he fails then Marsch is out of a job imo.
I think we have the players for 5 at the back. Pretty much 3 from any of them would work but we need at least one of them to step into MF, which Struijk, Koch and Wober have done. Lose Roca in the middle. It would free up Bill to go forward more and we have Harrison to play left WB. I doubt anyone would agree but Firpo is decent going forward too if necessary. I'm hoping to find out why this is a stupid idea....
… I don’t mind the football we play, it makes for exciting games, I also don’t think we’re as rigidly narrow as people think… we’re narrow when we press and in transition but in possession we’re more flexible. His sides typically use full backs for width which isn’t revolutionary in modern football.. and hard if you don’t have a left back. I have 2 concerns over marsch. Firstly, as everyone knows, the redbull model hasn’t succeeded well in the PL. I’ve cut some slack because I think it takes time and the right players. Rangnick had no chance with the Man U squad bought to play a different way. We now have a lot of ‘the right players’ so it’s time to deliver. Second concern is I don’t feel we have the right defenders for his system - and despite him commenting that fullbacks are generally facing the oppositions best players - I’m not sure he can spot a defender and/or get his message across to the ones he has. As you say, if he doesn’t sort it he’s gone.
Think Rutter is going to be massive and may just be the difference this season, as far as the defence is concerned Inwill still disagree with a couple on here and blame the tactics for continually exposing the defence. Still only a couple of weeks left before there’s an absolute riot of anti Marsch feelings, or go the other way and start winning games. He needs to win end of and Rutter may be his saviour
Hopefully you're right about Georgi boy and he doesn't start the same as our last record signing Mr rodders.......... it's only really this season that he's shown the outlay for him was maybe warranted
Personally i don’t think rutter will be his saviour… I think we look pretty potent as it is… but I obviously hope he adds to the team, especially with Jimmy sidelined and luis not back yet. Fck knows how we get them all on the pitch if fit, but nice problem to have. Re the defence… all just opinions Doc. I do agree bielsa and marsch ask a lot of defenders - but surely you would agree some none system-related individual errors have occurred and cost us this season?
I think if you’re always under pressure players make more individual errors than when they have time, support and in control.
