There's no deterence, nobody ****s themselves at the idea of it or getting caught anymore. Whatever else it's going to be incredibly hard on the mum and kids. I can't bear kids going through emotional trauma.
Terrible mate. I remember decades ago a mate of mine had a knife, I was like wtf, because I've never carried weapons. He just said everyone is starting to carry them, you can't fight them anymore, because they will just stab you, now I'm seeing the reality of his words all these decades on. I still don't carry a blade, I just remember to be cautious, but what you can't account for is your own character kicking in, and not just wanting to stand by when someone gets attacked. Like you say they are just cowards, stabbing and run. Sorry to read about your mate.
Chinese style detention centres, get them built - sling all knife carriers in them, family told to feed them daily, wash their clothes etc, as state won't be doing it. Inconvenience them and their family, they will soon learn. Tough if @luvgonzo is picking up a knife from Sainsburys to cut the Sunday roast, should have ordered online.
Isn't it an automatic jail term if you're caught carrying a knife? 20-30 yrs ago that was enough deterrent to keep the numbers down. Now nobody's expecting to get caught. Also there now seems to be zero value given to life. It's just a numbers game for some who are involved in other low level crime and antisocial behaviour. Could you even begin to imagine what it would be like to end someone's life? Madness.
Jail is not a deterrent until it's too late nor is it an inconvenience. People shouldn't be sent to jail for carrying a blade, they need a system of re-education, Chinese style detention centres would offer that. I'm not talking Borstals either, because that was another system run by the inmates, who would reoffend on release. It's that horrible word called discipline that's required, if you can't build the detention centres, then stick them in the forces and put a big gay sergeant major in charge of them.
Sorry to hear that bud. It's a ****ing nightmare out there, so many gangs fighting for control aswell as young lads thinking it's fine to knife someone.
Mate they have to catch them first. We're living in a lawless society when it comes to most acts of random violence, sexual assault and robbery. Unless it's an easy one to solve where someone the victim knows or lives with commits the crime against them, or where the crime is so abhorrent there's public pressure on the police to catch the culprits (e.g. child being shot in a drive by ffs), or for example if you're an otherwise law abiding individual doing 35mph in a 30 zone. Other than that, there's not enough police or resources to investigate or catch anyone let alone put them away. And those involved in organised street crime or random acts of violence know it full well. The whole system is broken.
I think he came from the same unit as that Wayne Couzens, there has to be something really suss going on in there, someone has to be covering up these acts or burying them in someway, this is way too much of a coincidence.
