I think that turning point is now. If we do plan to spend this month, I don't trust Conte to pick the right players to buy, and if he doesn't pick them it's clear he has no interest in playing them either. The only reason I'd hesitate is I haven't the foggiest who could take over at this stage. I mean, who would even want this job anymore?
Predictably dreadful. What now? I've no confidence that sacking Conte will bring about any change other than the short term 'new coach bounce'. Are we really going to get caught in this loop? By next year, fans will be calling for another change...
That was so painful. Losing an NLD with zero fight along with awful tactics and selection, it doesn’t get any worse. **** off, Conte.
**** football, **** tactics, persistence with **** players even when there’s other options, **** interviews and what’s more Arsenal now go 8 clear at the top of the table. What a dreadful season, only enjoyable thing so far was the World Cup where we didn’t have to watch Spurs.
The only time we have progressed as a club was under Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino. Two of them regularly played younger players and all played attacking, exciting to watch football. That was our identity. I honestly do not like watching us play and by and large (apart from the odd match and our run in last season) I haven't enjoyed watching us very often in the past 3 years.
Remember when Conte would change to a 352 is his starting tactics weren't working out? Why the hell did it not occur to him that, with Hojbjerg having a bad day at the office, he needed to rejig the tactics this afternoon? ...is it something to do with the fans demanding we play 352, so he sandbagged that system against Man Utd?
Whilst this is dreadful to watch and has been for sometime, we knew what we were getting with Conte. It’s been discussed to death, but he needs money and/or the players capable to make his system work. He’s been a success everywhere, but it isn’t happening here (yet, and may never). But it’s an interesting situation for Levy whether conte walks, or he sacks him. Surely we hired him with the intention of backing him? If he leaves, questions are then asked as to why he’s made that decision. from a footballing point of view, we need to change things because there’s no heart and we’re as bad as we were under Nuno. but more and more fans will be joining the “levy out” camp if this happens. Imagine having one of the best manager in the world and what we’re seeing right now. It beggars belief. Levy and Paratici need to have a really good window over the next couple of weeks, or this is going to get even messier than it already is.
We were playing the league leaders. We had equal possession, more shots, more shots on target. We lost because our keeper threw one in and failed to stop a long shot. We lost but it wasn't a disaster.
You can`t play a 2 man midfield when one of them is as poor as Hojbjerg, you need top class players like prime Kante. So, it is clear we need a new GK, 2 x CB, 1 x RWB, 1 x CM and 2 x forwards (possibly 3 when Kane leaves and if Son does not rediscover form). That`s a large shopping list that ENIC simply will not deliver, bring on a takeover or investment.
Our midfield being overrun certainly was Hojbjerg having a bad day at the office made it obvious we needed a third body in there, which frankly was a worry two weeks before kickoff - but Conte resisted rejigging the system to fix what was obviously not working for far too long True, the options for the third body were either a rusty Skipp or Yves Bissouma's brother, but that's not an excuse to not bother fixing things
Is conte a world class manager though? He’s won a few leagues with the best teams in the league by far, has a dreadful record in the champions league and knows only one way to play. If you’re not a bankrolled club to buy the players needed for that formation then he’s hapless.
Lloris had a poor game by his own high standards, however this club will always remains indebted to him. He has been one of the best, if not 'the best keeper' I have seen in a Spurs shirt. Lest we forget.
