So, does Eddie drop him completely or bench him? He’d be one of the first on the team sheet usually, be interesting to see what Eddie does.

Not a footballing matter so he starts for me and they deal with it internally as a club.

Start with him. He'll get fined so why should he be punished twice?

    this.
His punishment is in the courts and not on the pitch.

The reason Eddie is getting worldie performance out of what is still essentially Bruce's team is because he's got them playing as a team. Taking responsibility, and taking your licks is part of that.

So no, he's got to drop him. Hopefully not for long, but Eddie has to make the point or risk undermining the unity that's doing us so much good.

Otherwise - let's say next week someone else is late to training. If Eddie drops him, then he's got a fair point that Joe did far worse and got away with it. If Eddie doesn't, then discipline is shot.

This is a serious issue with serious consequences. Most jobs I've had I'd have lost if I'd been caught driving over the limit. So a week's wages and a symbolic match out of the team is hardly over reacting.

I agree with this. Although it may hurt us. There is a bigger play in this and drink driving is ****in serious.

If he knocked over a kid. What happens then.

Not acceptable. He should be punished and hard.

What if, What if What if. If didn't happen, luckily. Let the Judicial system decide on the punishment. Let him who is 100% innocent in life throw the first stone? Anyone? Thought not. Move on then. Big fine, Big arse kicking, Big apology. Big Joe plays!! Simples <cheers>

When it comes to drink driving then I suspect the vast majority of drivers have never done it. It's one of those that there is no excuse for and can have horrible consequences. The 'What Ifs' are exactly the point!

Personally, if I'm designated driver then I don't have any at alcohol all. Everyone does the: "Oh you can still have one or two". But I don't see the point. And if I have one I want more. Far better to just stick to soft drinks if you know you're driving.

Equally I agree with the views of letting the aurhorities deal with it how they see fit and then let the club deal with any additional punishments as they see fit. Whatever that loks like, fair enough to me.

I won't be jumping up and down if Eddie doesn't drop him and leaves it to the authorities, but I do think there is value, particularly in the long term, in holding the squad to very high standards.

It's always a question of degree. Don't go overboard but don't minimise how serious it is. Key issue is the reading and how far above the limit he was. The punishment should be comparative to the reading and how bad bad was.

Thought you were normally designated eater.

I think he should be made to sit this game out.

That's actually the sad part as he isn't the designated eater. He just eats.

I know quite a few people across the north east who even now, will have ‘just 2-3 pints’ as they are big lads and it’s viewed at the norm as their metabolisms can handle it.

friends further south not 1 person is like this.

mid suggest that in many parts of the north east, in the over 45 males… there is still habitual ignorance being displayed.

Had to take one of our PNG workers in for a drug and alcohol test as they were compulsory for working onsite with oil companies. As we drove to the clinic he told me that he had had 6 cans for breakfast but it should be fine as he can handle his drink pretty well. Quickly got the driver to turn around and rescheduled the appointment.

Joelinton's bad decision should have knock on effects for many of us to be aware of when we're out socialising.
If you'll excuse the pun, it's a sobering thought knowing you risk losing your licence plus your job if you get yourself just over the drink drive limit and drive.

my thoughts too. It won’t be prison unless he hit someone and it was bad.

    he’ll get a 12 month ban.

a reminder that you can get 6 month bans for speeding.
