I agree with this, but I think TM was reluctant to bench him. But now that he is out, he might not get back in.
Watching it, even down to 10 men, I don't think Swansea really outplayed us or even hurt us. Yes they had lots of possession but they never really sliced us open
They had lots of possession but I thought they were really slow. Pass pass pass without any zip about it. 11 v 11 and they were toast today.
Exactly. Most of their possession was at the back, they didn't really have any cutting edge going forward. We weren't chasing shadows, they didn't use their advantage to cut us open. When we were 11v11, I thought Roberts and Trai Hume were having a lot of opportunity down that side as well as Clarke scaring them down the left. If the referee didn't let his ego get in the way, the result would've been a lot different
Slightly off topic, but Hume is getting better and better. He looked so raw last season, but 12 months on he looks excellent for this level. Really impressive
I thought he did really well today until Mowbray moved him over when he went to a back 3. That's not to say, I disagreed with Mowbray's decision but he looked dangerous going forward with Roberts today. The RB slot is his to lose and that doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon
Agree to a point, but I thought he looked very comfortable as the left side of a 3. Another string to his bow is the ability to play CB. We had to set up more defensively when we went down to 10, so his attacking abilities were always going to get curbed
Don't get me wrong, I thought he looked really comfortable there but he was causing Swansea problems down the right until O'Nien was sent off
Aye. Absolutely killed the game. 18 ****ing mins man. At the time I said red before the ref sent him off. I've watched the replays and still think red, but it was o9's first tackle and not convinced it was as reckless as some might say. Today is frustrating rather than upsetting
It was definitely frustrating! It was right in front of us and I thought it was a yellow. I think the reaction of the Swansea players got O'Nien sent off especially the one who wanted to get after him and was trying to take on all comers! Funny how he never got a yellow for that
Yeah, we said that in the pub. We never seem to do that (surround the ref). Not sure if that's a good thing, or we are just being naïve.
I think it's classed as "part of the game" now. Personally I think it's ****e and you need a strong referee to tell them where to go and we didn't have that today
Swansea fans were embarrassing today - when they did sing it was all about us. Maybe learn some songs about your own club eh lads?
Not sure if already mentioned but I thought Hume was very good again today. Had a great run forward when he was at rb early on, he was flying. Did well when shifted to LB as well. Long may it continue.
