http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-15572381 The route for the Olympic torch has been announced, it will include loads of the UK's landmarks, including some clown zipwiring from the Tyne Bridge while holding the torch! Sat in a meeting the other day on travel disruption, won't affect many of you lads back home but will be utter chaos in London, talking about many Central London stations both overground & tube having up to hour & a half queues just to get on a train! Beginning to wish bloody Paris got it now. Anyone got tickets? I've got a 3 lots. June 16th btw for anyone who fancies seeing the Olympic torch plunge into the Tyne
Biggest waste of money ever this Olympic ****e. Greece are 36 billion euro in debt from when they hosted the Olympics, so we will have a similar amount to look forward to paying off for the next 20 years. Might go see that torch ziplined over the Tyne though be hiliarous if it was dropped
Think Greece are in that much debt because 15% of the population are civil servants and are paid directly by the government great advert for privatisation if nothing else.
http://www.google.co.uk/url?q=http:...gQFjAB&usg=AFQjCNGUPBeHFlnITafVMROoyLkNR_4ogQ It is 36 billion debt from the Olympics, but they are in a hell of a lot more debt than that
I've already pre-booked the family holiday to get us the hell out of London for the Olympics. Commuting to and from work is already crowded as hell on the trains. I half expect the station staff to push people into the trains soon as they do in Tokyo. It's expected to be 50% busier according to some chaps I know working for TfL and that for me was the final straw to get away. Renting the house out for 3 weeks to some old colleagues from Brussels who have tons of tickets (we didn't manage to get any!!) and heading to the sunshine and beaches of Antibes.
You bugger! As I said was at a meeting last week where a guy from Tfl said on certain days people would make 3.3 million more journeys on London transport than normal (yes that's per day) & people could be waiting up to an hour & a half to get on a tube train from some stations. Think you've got the right idea OT & best just to bugger off til the whole thing's over and done. ( You will still catch some of it because it's going to be no better for the Paraolympics either though which run til middle of August
