… even Essex talks sense occasionally. I thought we were great for the most part last night. Undone by a combo of defensive errors and good old fashioned bad luck
Exactly Milky. How we didnt get a point is beyond me and how they didnt go to var for the foul on willy is strange. Whats the point in VAR.
VAR did look at it though, so I am presuming you mean how did VAR not request that the ref review his decision, in which case I agree with you Shaks. I appreciate that this is just semantics and maybe I am being pedantic, just one of my many foibles
I can't comment as every feed i got went down after 5 minutes but by all accounts we battered them. I did see their offside goal given by var and that's about it.
Re penalties, i think the push on Rodrigo was probably a foul but the contact wasn’t clear enough so I can’t argue with them not giving it. The one on gnonto.. he had a fist full of shirt as he threw him to the floor. Stonewall.
We did dominate wakey. Second half more even but their second was against the run of play… they had a little spell then and a few chances as we chased the game but still mainly all Leeds.
And when they showed it back, it was right in the ref's eyeline, no dea how he missed it. Then again, I probably have.
Afternoon all. I'm no master tactician but a couple of simple tweaks would make us more solid. Adams and Roca cannot pile forward together, at least one of them needs to stay and cover. Ideally Adams as he's a short arse. If one full back surges forward the other needs to hold back enough to be able to mop up the cross field ball if we lose it, which we often do. At set pieces you want the big guys forward but we need cover if they get the ball. Last night they weren't hoofing it clear so Meslier was wasted, they just dinked it over our crowd in the box for Bailey, Buendia or Ramsey to run on to. Why not sit Adams and Roca there to mop up? It may mean we score less but if we concede less we won't need to score as many. We're just too gung ho
Don't need reminding pal. I've said for weeks, months that he's an accident waiting to happen. I was confident enough to back Brennan Johnson to score at any time at 5/2 knowing he was up against Struijk. It's beyond a joke at this point.
Ref stops play just as Gnonto is felled and probably a booking to boot. All we get is a dropped ball. Great stuff.
