I don't care how attractive or exciting our (non-scoring) outfield play is - we simply cannot defend. Couldn't defend before Marsch & can't do it now. He's had almost a year to fix it, but he hasn't. In fact, I can't see it getting any better. And I'll still believe this if we come back from 2-0 down to these nobodies. Points make prizes, not pretty passing triangles.
Oh FFS. Right. Who are you getting as a replacement? Who is the new guy gonna play in defence? Let me guess. Dyche and we'll park the bus.
Doesn't matter who I think should take over. The new guy needs to adopt tactics that suit our team. Leaving one back for a corner with the slowest defence in the PL should be a mistake, not a regular occurence.
If the long term plan is to comfortably avoid relegation but be a mediocre mid table team, Dyche would work wonders with this team. He’d have them organised and hard to beat, we’d not flirt with danger If the plan is to buy and improve year on year you need to decide if you believe Jesse is the man to do it. We’re not going to attract anyone like Ponch we might get Potter when Chelsea sack him My fear is how players like Aaronson and Roca have gone backwards, is that coaching, style of play, confidence. Something is wrong
What tactics suit our team? So you want Marsch to go and nobody to take charge. Good plan. I'm happy to have the discussion but "sack Marsch!" can't be the whole conversation.
So you want to sack Jesse and hope Potter leaves Chelsea. Good plan. Dyche won't flirt with danger? His team was relegated last season. Look at what Kompany has done with that team.
What tactics suit our team? Clearly none that Marsch is aware of. So you want Marsch to go and nobody to take charge. Good plan. Do you think I'm as stupid as this question? FFS! I'm happy to have the discussion but "sack Marsch!" can't be the whole conversation. So converse then! Tell us why we should repeat the same horror stories time after time, or give us hope & tell us when Marsch is going to stop us folding almost every opposition breakaway? Remember, he's been here almost a year. Clearly you're either a fan of his, or simply incredibly tolerant.
Next 5 games. Brentford (h) Forest (a) Scum (h) Everton (a) Southampton (h) Should Jesse go if we don't beat Brentford (as there's a 2 week gap) or does he get all 5 games to save himself ?
I'm still undecided WJ. Big games coming up and if we can get the new signing done and Sinisterra back on the pitch things might start to look up.
In this thread, I didn’t say sack Jesse tomorrow and hope we get Potter. I said we might attract him if sacked. If sacked a quiet approach before sacking Jesse might be a good idea, no need for sarcasm pal Dyche had a poor Burnley team that defied the odds for too long, many felt if Burnley had kept him it would have been us down instead. Dyche didn’t get to spend the money on players that we have, constantly selling Dyche wasn’t relegated, he was replaced with 8 games remaining. If they come back up let’s see how well they do with Kompany If you don’t believe Dyche would get this team better organised than Jesse has that’s fine, it’s all opinion nobody has hard proof
I was the brave one, my decision was made before the Liverpool game, a fortunate win didn’t change my decision. I’d have sacked him the next day still, new man in WC break and transfer window to play with I said I’d not slag him off today so I’m pointing out what I said months ago
I was undecided myself. TBF, I was never going to love anyone following on after Bielsa, hence giving JM so many chances. I held back for this TW to somehow find us some answers, but it was that first goal that snapped me back into reality. How many more times do we have to watch that? It's become incredibly tedious to see it almost every week. So it's clearly preventable, given that few other teams have this disgraceful habit on such a regular basis. I really do fear the worst.
Here is a question for anyone watching tonight’s game, we started 4-2-3-1 After each double substitution, what formation were we? What was the game plan, to me it looked like throw everyone on and hope for the best
Forest are now more difficult to beat as they employ a low block and hit teams on the counter, Wolves have a top coach and are now playing some very good football for a team at the bottom, whilst Leicester have a very experienced PL manager in Brendan Rogers That seems to leave just Southampton, Bournemouth, Everton and us as the teams who are the most likely to struggle. Maybe it's time to send for Dyche then before it's too late.
Now would probably be a good time for Jesse to get his best team out against Cardiff on Wednesday. Play well, win the match and build some much needed confidence would seem to be the order of the day. However if he rings the changes and puts out a weakened side in front of a packed out Elland Road then he'll deserve everything that comes his way if we're knocked out.
Even looking at the favourable fixtures above, everyone of those teams will think we are the ones there for the taking and set up to quickly counter attack us, probably down the left and long switch balls as we pack one side. Any manager/pundit/fan can see how to break us down. If we haven't got the quality to play the system change the system! We all said how stubborn Marcelo was, Jesse your heading the same way we need points on the board fast and we really need them from this cluster of games! I dunno man. I want Marsch to succeed, and I can see all the counter arguments for him to go but we are running out of time, he's had almost a year I believe and it ain't working. Somethings got to give, I don't think the system will just all of a sudden start to work. I'm behind you Jesse, but if you don't make some massive changes in the next league game and we lose then I won't be And don't ask me who's going to replace him, that's Ortas job. I had no idea who Ghonto was, who Robler was or Rutter is.
