Change of formation... Oh, and stick a certain some one in.

So, we know the problem. It is scoring goals.

We also know that some players have not quite lived up to expectation yet.

I think a new formation should be tested, and a certain some one has to play more.

This certain some one has a great goal scoring record for Liverpool, but has barely played this season.

Now take a look at my idea:

    -------------Reina-------------
    -Johnson-Skrtel--Agger-Enrique-
    -------------Lucas-------------
    -------Gerrard----Adam--------
    ----Suarez--Carroll--Maxi-------

I see Andy Carroll as the perfect type of striker to play that role. He's big, strong and a perfect target man. He can hold the ball up, and get those knock downs for the players around him. He also has a great presence in the penalty area.

I also believe this is the role he played for Newcastle.

His movement has been questioned, but with Suarez and Maxi playing either side, it should make up for that some what. They could really torment defences a lot, and increase options in the box.

Johnson and Enrique should be able to make sure we don't loose any width to.

I'd love to see Gerrard playing just behind Carroll, and this system would allow him to burst forward and do that.

And finally, as I'm sure you have noticed, the player I want to see in the team more is Maxi. He has always stepped up with goals when they are needed. Especially under Dalglish.

    Opinons?

I miss Maxi and Meireles linking up like we had at the end of last season, so yeah get Maxi in there.

i'd like to see kuyt in the carroll role. i think he'd bring more energy up topand, to be honest, i think he's a better bet for goals!

    I agree.

While Gerrard is out, I think a 442 would work nicely, with Maxi left and Bellamy right. Dirk and Luis up front. Lots of passing and moving.
So basically drop Carroll, Henderson and Downing. It'll do them good, a bit of time on the bench. Henderson has looked better when he's come on for the last 25 mins of a game.

Enrique is doing Downing's job a lot of the time and Downing then tends to drift further in-field,and when a move breaks down both are out of position,KK has to find the right balance between the two.

Maxi tends to drift in anyway, and plays better when he does. So I think that might work well with Enrique bombing down the outside.
Maxi's positioning is better than Downing's too.

Fair comment, but i hate it when they both go for the same ball and in doing so get in eachothers way and the move breaks down.

Yeah, I notice that too. They seem to be on top of each other a lot. I think that's why Kenny sometimes puts Downing on the right. I certainly think Maxi would pair up better with Enrique in that respect.

How about going back to the 3-5-2 that was excellent at the end of last season -

    Something like:

    --------------------Reina--------------------------
    ------------Carra---Agger-----Skrtyl--------------
    Johnson----Gerrard----Lucas----Adam----Enrique
    -------------Suarez------Carroll/Bellamy---------

Obviously that's just an example and personal may be different due to injuries etc - but that formation kicked arse last season.

I seriously don't get why Kenny hasn't tried it yet this season considering how well it worked last season....

I don't think formation is a problem. If we were struggling to break teams down then yeah, we might need to change something like that but that's not the problem. We all know we are creating good chances and I hate to admit it, but if we had the Torres of 2 seasons ago, we'd probably be 2nd/3rd in the league right now because he could stick the ball in the net.

It really is just that last bit of composure... how many times would Carroll normaly had scored from that position yesterday, probably 9 out of 10... but it seems it's that 1 time is every time at the moment! (I know that seems a bit contradicting but you get my point).

I think we just stick with it for the time being and if we get to January and still having the same problem then get someone in who may not be a world beater and £20mil but someone who has been able to just hover round the box and stick the ball in the net - doesn't have to get too involved in the play as that is what Suarez does.

    Cheeky bid for Defoe?

Defoe would be the type of player we need but he's old. I think we should be concentrating on bringing players in who are 23-25 (similar to Suarez) i.e. someone who already good quality but potential to become world class.

Perhaps Llorente could be worth a shout? Another player that I really like is Javi Martinez - similar to Alonso in that he likes to dictate the tempo and keeps the ball really well.

    1. kuyt is awful up top and to be frank he's as bad on the ball as carroll.

    2. 4-3-3 is ok and all that but the truth is adam is a ball watcher and doesn't run so is the problem. put in a half fit gerrard and the results pick up? co-incidence we're not scoring again?

    3. maxi? everyone can have a good patch, i nthe end he's not in for a reason and that is no pace. FOr me whethe ris be downing, maxi, kuyt or whomever in a 4-3-3 we need to work harder.

I think Defoe is only about 28 I think so he's hardly about to pick up his pension. I think for a couple of season's while Carroll starts to really get into his stride (remember he's only 21?) he'd be a handy player to have. It also gives us a few years to try and develop Morgan who seems to be the type of player we could do with - someone who stands in the box and sticks it in the net or do some scouting for a similar type player.

Do you not watch Adam? He does plenty of watching.

I personally think he is doing a great job.

That's the position of the field where I cant really fault Liverpool.

Kenny is not Rafa but with the players we have.

    -------------Reina-------------
    -Johnson-Kelly--Agger-Enrique-
    --------Lucas--Adam-------------
    -----------Gerrard--------
    ----Suarez--Carroll--Bellamy-------

It's a Rafa formation with Adam in the Alonso role.

I like that. Adam's more attacking than Alonso to.

Here is a mad formation that would need some balls.

    -------------Reina-------------
    -Flanno-Kelly--Agger-Enrique-
    --------Lucas--Adam-------------
    -----------Suarez--------
    ----Kuyt--Morgan--Sterling-------
