Memories of Huddersfield v City. Jimmy McGill, beating them 3-0 at Leads Road and Dave Lill scoring. Sodje? with his ridiculous headband, crippling Stuart Elliot, Losing 4-0 at the souless McAlpine stadium one Sunday morning, Three mini busses of there fans hiding in George pub all day then hiding behind scrubbery in West Park and smacking fans leaving the stadium, then watching them run like rabbits to get behind police lines when confronted themselves. City fans jailed for fighting back, them getting slugged every week in the PL. SYP trying to prevent us travelling there once. Not much in common have we? Expecting us to win tomorrow and a crowd around 17,500.
Not quite as bad as TWS but these still have that Wessie smugness about them. About time we did them surely...
Though, as I always remind supporters of TWS their record attendance in the town of Huddersfield is10,000 more than the record in the city of Leeds. For good measure if any Liverpool plastics are about it is 7,000:more than theirs.
If we're going on a run this would be an ideal game to give someone a tonking. That's why we'll lose it 2-1.
Those Huddersfield lot were all on banning orders yet the police onl managed to take City fans to court. The 4-0 Steve Booth was here. Went with him. Last City game he saw I think. The 3-0 one,it was either that one or a League Cup game at Halifax when I made the mistake of arriving back in Leeds where I was living and walking through the station wearing my City scarf the same day they had played Wolves.
Remember meeting Steve with you before that game in a pub in Brighouse who opened up early for us.He was still wearing his original City scarf from the 60's but spoke with a South African accent.. The 3-0 we were in the Cowshed, aka Huddersfield's kop end behind the goal. Another one was, cannot remember the score, at leads Road when we were all on the side terrace, believed to be the biggest covered terrace in the FL at the time. Just before kick off a gang of elderly (compared to us) Huddersfield beer monsters in donkey jackets suddenly started throwing punches in the middle of us. Andy Cummings came in handy that day. Happy days following Hull City.
I think Huddersfield are better than Wigan by more than 1 place in the table might suggest but if we can reproduce our away form and with what we showed v Fulham we should beat them.
