Their 4-3 victory over Bournemouth seems a long time ago now, and with confidence in short demand, Jesse Marsch will be hoping Leeds can go five points clear of the drop zone come close of play. Much will depend on which Villa team turn up. They may have beaten Manchester Utd, Chelsea, Brighton and Spurs this season, but have lost against the likes of Fulham and Bournemouth. They have also lost Cup matches against Cardiff City and more recently Stevenage. Their inconsistent form see's Unai Emery side just five points and three place above Leeds. Villa will be without John McGinn (hamstring), Diego Carlos (ruptured Achilles) and Leander Dendoncker (suspension). Matty Cash and Ludwig Augustinsson are both carrying knocks and will face late fitness tests. Emiliano Buendia, Ashley Young, Ollie Watkins, Lucas Digne, Emiliano Martinez, Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are all expected to return to the starting XI after being rested against Stevenage last weekend. Jesse Marsch has a selection dilemma at right-back. After his impressive second half display as a substitute (against Cardiff City), forgotten man Cody Drameh is pushing for his first start of the season. The 21yo may be seen as a bigger threat going forward, whilst having the defensive capabilities to keep the Villa forwards at bay. Luis Sinisterra, Patrick Bamford, Adam Forshaw, Archie Gray and Stuart Dallas all remain sidelined.
I was looking up some of the Villa players ages, Ashley Young 37 now. I thought Tyrone Mings was in his 30s, I’m surprised to see he is 29 On another note, as I typed Tyrone Mings, I had to correct auto spell, it called him Tyrone Minge, second attempt it adjusted it to Tyrone Mingus, I like Tyrone Minge the best
He kept us up last season with that incredible goal line clearance in second last game against Burnley. Ill forever be grateful to him for that
It's either going to be 2 2 or 3 2 to either team. We are going to need to score a couple to get anything out of this game, and until we cut the individual errors out. We just never look comfy even when we are leading do we ? I'd snap your hand off for a scrappy 1 0 win
A bit of insight in to your Google searches there Risty if your phone immediately assumes Minge is the word your after.
Been jeckyl and hide this season Villa. Their home form has generally been very good even if the results haven’t always matched performances. Seen them batter a few sides… recently that home form has tailed off. Their away form was poor but has picked up. who knows what version of them and what version of us will turn up… but we’ll be underdogs again.. and Jimmy’s a big miss on this season’s form. Whichever… on the day risty is choosing to not snipe at Jesse… we need a result. Would be unfair pressure on him otherwise.
I’d love a win but I agree, as long as we don’t lose but then for me, it will be three must wins to get momentum, Home to Cardiff in the cup, Home to Brentford then away to Forest. Get the **** one out the way home to Man U before two more crucial games, Everton and Southampton. Next 6 league games, we have 3 games against teams scrapping at the bottom
And if it doesn’t … the month after that will. And if that doesn’t… Whichever… Our run in looks grim, so we need points in hand by then.
Yeah, I was thinking of May's fixtures when I said this month defines our season. If we have a bad month (or even a bang average month) then tighten the seat belts for another relegation battle. If we have a good month we might even dare look upwards at the top 10 rather than over our shoulder. Let's face it, we're Leeds and we do things very Leedsy so we're in for a dog fight.
